Bathroom Update

by Mandy on October 24, 2011

Now that the summer is over and my dad is done boating…I have tons of projects lined up for him. The first on my list was to add a backsplash in the boys bathroom. I had never officially finished decorating their bathroom so it was time for a bathroom update!

Every time they brush their teeth or wash their hands they would fling water all over the wall! I really wanted to add something that was functional (keeping the water off the wall) and also added a little WOW factor! I also did not want to spend a TON of money.

I realize that this is not a very “kiddish” looking bathroom, but trust me, the boys don’t care. I really wanted to do something more sophisticated since this is the bathroom that our overnight guests use as well.

I had posted about my shower curtain previously. I ordered it from Anthropologie and I LOVE it!

Different lighting makes the tile look different. It was hard to get many good pictures. It matches the shower curtain PERFECTLY! I found it on clearance at Lowes a few months back. It literally cost under $100 to tile this wall (my dad’s labor is free)! :)

It was his idea to trim it out in a stained trim to match the vanity pieces. I was somewhat hesitant at first, but GEEZ does it look good! I really think the trim sets it off! Good call dad!

So there you have it…another quick and successful project finished by my dad!

I love love love love LOOOOOVE it so much!!!! You are so creative!!!! I cannot believe how cheaply you did this, I’m gonna have to maybe use this idea somewhere in my house… is it hard to do the backsplash in the kitchen? I really want that.

So, yah…. your bathroom looks badass (yes, I still say badass when it’s appropriate even though I’m a new mama).

I LOVE that Anthro shower curtain and I’m sure it ties perfectly with that tile!! GREAT JOB! Seriously – it looks like it was done by a professional interior designer. And that’s a steal for that tile under $100! Wow!

Looks fantastic! (We don’t have a “kiddish-looking” bathroom, either.) Props to your dad.

I am in LOVE with this bathroom! You have such a great eye for decorating & this turned out really cool! I think your boys will appreciate the non-kid looking bathroom when they are a little older & you will be happy you don’t have to re-do it when they are out of the little kid years! ;-)
