Alright, y’all. Who’s ready for another idea on what to do with old canvas prints you are no longer using?
*Raises Hand*
My youngest son’s closet is literally full of old canvas prints.
Either I used to be obsessed with canvases or I’m a hoarder. Either way… it’s paying off now because I found yet ANOTHER fun way to repurpose them.
I showed you how you can stencil a canvas print when I redecorated my oldest son’s room and when I needed wall art for the hallway. But THIS. THIS, my friends…is even easier.
Sometimes your tastes change or you just want to spice things up on your walls. THIS is the cheapest and easiest way to make it happen. That, I promise you.
First, I bought some large alphabet stickers from Hobby Lobby. I bought two packs so that I would have enough vowels to spell what I wanted.
The saying that I went with is “Life is Better When You Choose Joy”. Because, duh. It is. And what better way to remind myself of that than to have it hanging in my entryway.
After I placed the letters on the canvas (and no I didn’t measure – I just eyeballed it), I took some white acrylic paint and a sponge brush and painted the entire thing.
You paint OVER the stickers.
I did two coats of white paint to cover the darkness of the original canvas.
I let it dry for a few hours and then I plopped my butt in front of the television and spent about 15 minutes peeling the stickers off.
Once the stickers are off the letters look like they are written in the background of your old canvas colors.
Anyone who has an old canvas, some stickers and some paint can pull this off.
The best part is that I now have a use for this $100 canvas that I almost sold at a garage sale for 50 cents.
Now excuse me while I go dream up some more sayings to plaster all over my walls.
Oh wait, I have no more wall space. I might be coming to YOUR house next.

Love this idea! I have several under my bed that are outdated but I just couldn’t get rid of them. Now I know why I kept them – to make my own original art! Pinning this one!

Totally loved this idea so much that I repurposed an old canvas of my own and posted the transformation on my blog. Thank you! 🙂
