Welcome to our lovely home where we constantly have naked children running around.

Ahem.

Hey, laundry is not my favorite past-time. If you have boys then you know that…clothes…are optional until you are five.

I try to keep my house fairly picked up and clean. You know, just in case you were to pop in and say hello. But, my kids? I can’t always promise you they are “visitor ready”. In fact, they will most likely need 3 minutes to throw on some pants.

We built our home in 2010 and ever since…I’ve had my dad working on a constant Pinterest project. Pinterest…the devil. Ha!

Lucky for us, he is free labor. I wouldn’t have been able to do HALF of the stuff in our home if it weren’t for his free labor.

Free labor and my bargain shopping skills. Holla!

If you are curious as to where I got something please check the source links under each room. If your question is still not answered then feel free to comment below and I will do my best to reply.

I absolutely love everything you have done with your home. You are a wonderful interior designer. I could only imagine what your yard looks like! I think my favorite room is your nursery. I would love to have a nursery for my son and decorate it. His theme is Pooh, Tigger, Piglet & Eeyore, but no nursery yet. Keep up the good work!

What a great home! I thought mine looked good, but I wanna be like you when I grow up lol. Love the “IDEA” board. Makes the white board fit in so well with the rest of the house, instead of being just “there” like a lot white boards and bulletin boards.

I love this collage over your bed! I went and found everything the next day to do the same, but unfortunately the items were much bigger in person and it did not for above my bed, sooo I needed something on a large blank wall in my living room.. And it came out beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your talent in home decorating! I am sure I’ll keep referring back to your photos as I move from room to room! Your awesome!

I hired a painter to do the horizontal lines. But, you can google “how to paint horizontal lines” and find tons of great info!

Looks great.

Had to laugh when I read “if you’re a mom of boys”- every time I hear a mom of young boys say that, they go on to describe something my girls do. Toddlers and preschoolers are naked, messy, screaming, mischievious young things, in general. I had one easy kid and one horrendously tough one, and they’re both girls. What’s interesting is those babycenter polls that split up the answers by gender, and virtually all of them are exactly the same answers regardless of gender. Just a thought. Again, beautiful home.

I laughed so hard at the first picture. “Said the mom with naked kids.” My kid is always naked and I think it’s awesome. (His sister, by contrast, is always clothed, but she’s only 6 months. I’m sure when she’s 3, she, too, will be naked.) My husband says he remembers his dad having a conversation with him when he was around 7 about how he needed to start wearing clothes…ha!
Your house is gorgeous.

Hey, you have a very beautiful and inspiring home. I especially love the pillars at the breakfast bar. Was wondering what kind of floors you have in you kitchen and dining room?

Reply

Mandy July 29, 2012 at 2:36 pm

The floors are a hand-scraped hickory. WE LOVE THEM! I would highly recommend going with some type of hand-scraped so that you don’t worry about it getting scratched up!

I love your taste, but I epically like the openness of your living, kitchen, dinning rooms. Did you build? Do you have or know where/who did the plans?

Reply

Mandy July 29, 2012 at 2:31 pm

We did build our home 2.5 years ago. I am not sure if I have a copy of the plans because it was a custom design. We hired a local architect who helped us draw up something.

Love your style…you recently posted about the boys’ bathroom artwork being from an etsy shop…would you post the link or name, please? I have a couple of bathrooms that need stuff on the walls in a bad way! I have a daughter who’s name is Parker, great taste in names too!

Mandy – I love this! I still can’t get over the fireplace transformation! Stunning. And I have been looking for a new bedspread (love yours!) and I am totally going to Ikea! I don’t like the idea of spending hundreds of $$ on bedding when I have little kids. So $50 is perfect!

I love your house. It’s simply beautiful. You guys have been very blessed!

Reply

Mandy August 1, 2012 at 10:09 pm

Thanks girl!! I agree…$50 on bedding is right up my alley! I change my mind too often to have it cost anymore. Ha! I was just at Ikea last week and they still had the same duvet!

What did you do with all of your tv wires?

Reply

Mandy August 1, 2012 at 10:05 pm

They are in the wall. Our bedroom is on the other side of that wall and our bedroom tv is basically on the other side…but in between the two walls we have a 3 ft by 3 ft area that has a door to it so that all the wires go inside. Does that make sense?

Reply

Tayler August 1, 2012 at 10:45 pm

I am in LOVE with the nursery. The stripes are so perfect, I cannot wait to do a nursery like that one day. I also love the idea of the fireplace/TV makeover. Was it hard to do?

Reply

Mandy August 2, 2012 at 3:14 pm

I didn’t do the labor…my dad did that part. It was a “simple” project for him (someone who knows how to work the saw). I wouldn’t say it would have been simple for me. Haha! Point is: If you know what you are doing then YES it is super easy.
