Home Tour

Welcome to our lovely home where we constantly have naked children running around.

Ahem.

Hey, laundry is not my favorite past-time. If you have boys then you know that…clothes…are optional until you are five.

I try to keep my house fairly picked up and clean. You know, just in case you were to pop in and say hello. But, my kids? I can’t always promise you they are “visitor ready”. In fact, they will most likely need 3 minutes to throw on some pants.

We built our home in 2010 and ever since…I’ve had my dad working on a constant Pinterest project. Pinterest…the devil. Ha!

Lucky for us, he is free labor. I wouldn’t have been able to do HALF of the stuff in our home if it weren’t for his free labor.

Free labor and my bargain shopping skills. Holla!

If you are curious as to where I got something please check the source links under each room. If your question is still not answered then feel free to comment below and I will do my best to reply.

Beautiful home!!!! I was wondering what the outside of your house looks like. Your front porch is very similar to the house plans that I love. The only problem is I having seen any pictures of it. Is there any on your website or your house plan online that I could see???? Thanks!!!!

Mandy August 14, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Thank you! I don’t have any pictures of the exterior. I need to get some up! I will work on it!

HomeDecorators.com and it’s Martha Stewart Demask!

I love this rug! I just looked for it at HomeDecorators.com and didn’t see it in this color though. Did you buy it recently?

It was over 6 mths ago. It’s Martha Stewart Demask if you want to google it. I bet you could find it somewhere else. Maybe try RugsUSA.com.

Hi Mandy, Well sister you totally rock!! I pinned your post of your bedroom and told my husband I wanted EVERYTHING the same in our bedroom and he was ready to get started right away! Love it all!!! I was wandering what your laundry room looks like? This is one area you didn’t showcase and I would really love to spruce mine up a little so I thought I would check with you to see what ideas you might have up your sleeve..? Mine is painted a soft yellow and I have some black and white in it right now. This is an area I spend quite a bit of time in so I want it to be fun and inviting! I look forward to incorporating lots of your ideas into our home. Thanks so much for sharing!

Blessings!!!

Mandy August 7, 2012 at 7:05 am

Hi Danica! Thanks so much! I actually just repainted my laundry room last week! I will get pictures up soon, but to be honest, it’s not my favorite room in the house. Haha!

I absolutely love your bed frame and I went to Ashley Furniture to find it and they couldn’t seem to locate it. They told me to try to get the model number from you because it would help them to be able to locate it easier. If you know it, that would be awesome!! How long ago did you purchase the bed frame?

Reply

Mandy August 7, 2012 at 6:44 am

I actually purchased over 8 years ago so I have no idea what the model number is. I am sorry! I have heard other people say that they found something almost identical at Pilgrim Furniture??

Reply

Naomi Wilson August 7, 2012 at 7:20 pm

I can totally relate to you… I’ve said the exact same thing several times! We are in the process of building our home and I’m a mother of three boys (most of the time they run around in their skivvies) but my home is always visitor ready! I got a good chuckle, anyway, from reading your posts and your home is lovely. I can only hope that mine turns out so well!

Hi Mandy, I apologize if this is a repeat question. Wondering about your large family photo in your living room … was that a DIY or did you have that taken and ordered through a professional? Thinking about mod-podging a large canvas and yours looks beautiful! Thanks so much!

Reply

Mandy August 12, 2012 at 4:28 pm

It’s a 40×60 canvas print! I ordered it through a professional (because our best friend is a photographer), but I am sure you could find an online company that would make you one for cheaper. Or mod-podging would be cool too!

I love love love the whiteboard in your office. How did you do that? I have a huge wall in our office that I would love to cover with something like this. Thank you!

Reply

Mandy August 10, 2012 at 7:31 am

I ordered a giant roll of white board (self-adhesive) and it just sticks to the wall. Then we trimmed it out with trim from Lowes! I wouldn’t recommend buying the self-adhesive white board. If I had to do it over I would have purchased a white board with no border, but one that you can hang. The self-adhesive one…is never coming off. Haha!

Also, did you stain the cement on your front sidewalk? If so, how did you do it? We’ve been trying to find something to get an acid wash look.

Yep, it’s stained concrete! Much cheaper than stamped concrete.

Mandy,
I adore your house! I read earlier in your blog that you updated Parker’s room? Just wondering how it turned out and if you were posting pictures of it and Bentley’s room. I’m absolutely in love with your nursery but with a baby on the way (possibly two!) and a two year old, I may have to worry a lot less about color scheme and more about extra cribs. Seriously, you’re house is like the epitome of what I want to do to mine, just smaller. Awesome decorating skills!

Thank you so much! I am finished with P’s room and I will be posting the pics either this week or next! Stay tuned! :) And congrats on the pregnancy!

Your house is beautiful and you have impeccable taste!!! Are you for hire??? My house is a new build/blank slate and I’m overwhelmed with decorating decisions!!! Any advice on how/where to start for paint colors/schemes?

Reply

Mandy August 14, 2012 at 10:35 pm

Thank you! I usually get my inspiration from other blogs or magazines! For paint color schemes I stuck with a more neutral color on the main walls, but then used more bold colors to make things pop (pillars in our kitchen, dining room wall, etc).

Have a quick question for you – where is your sectional couch from? I have been searching forever for the ‘right’ one and yours seems perfect in size, color, and depth. Thanks in advance for your help!

Oh that is too funny! I wish I could tell you the exact brand of our couch, but I can not remember. We bought it at a local furniture store…but I have no idea what the brand is. I know it wasn’t a super expensive brand (with a dog & 3 kids we go through couches easily – Ha!)
