Hey dad, does my breath smell?

Now that P has just about ALL his baby teeth…I am really really working hard to get him in a routine of brushing his teeth daily.

Yes, once a day people.

Twice a day is unachievable right now.

Call me a bad mom.

Whatever.

Once a day is good in my book.

I am having a hard time getting him to actually brush. He only wants to chew on the toothbrush?

And letting me help him….ahem…yea right! Not P, he is too independent. If I even go as far as acting like I am going to brush for him he flips out.

So far, the only way I can get him to even “chew” on the toothbrush is because I bought toothpaste that has a choo choo on the tube.

Yea, go figure.

Anything for a choo choo.

Anybody have any ideas on how to get him to brush instead of chew? I have shown him NUMEROUS times the difference, but he’s TWO and he has a mind of his own.

I totally agree…twice a day…ppsshh! We have to tell Brock that Uncle Steve (my bro in law) is looking at him through the mirror…sometimes it works…sometimes it doesn’t! Good luck.

Has he had his first trip to the dentist? The pediatric dentists have all kinds of cute bells and whistles in their offices. Maybe he/she can work the magic!! xoxo

My kids are pretty big already and I still have to coax them into brushing their teeth more often by buying musical toothbrushes and tasty toothpaste!

Well, you could always try the fear tactic… show him pics of rotten teeth on the internet and warn him this is how his mouth might turn out. : )

Seriously tho, I think I just made it part of the morning and night-time routines when my son was that age. I would just say, “Time to brush our teeth,” and we would do that as part of the getting ready for the day or ready for bed ritual. I’m a song person, too, so I usually would sing stuff like, “Brusha, brusha, brusha…with a brand new toothbrush…” from the movie Grease.
