Ok, honestly no recipe has ever taken me 5 minutes. Probably because I am not a very experienced chef. And cooking takes a lot of brain juice for me.
But still…I think this is quite possibly the quickest recipe I have ever attempted.
This salsa is very different from a pico type salsa. It’s much more like a salsa you would get at a Mexican restaurant.
My personal favorite kind of salsa.
The ingredients are all things that you most likely have on hand anyway.
Score, right?
The only thing you might not have is the jalapeno.
Unless you’re a spicy family and you keep jalapenos on hand at all times. I do have friends like that.
This recipe is perfect for the winter months when fresh tomatoes are not in season. It’s one of my go-to recipes when we have friends over.
In a food processor combine a can of diced tomatoes, a can of Rotel {seasoned diced tomatoes and green chillies}, 1/4 cup of onion, 1/2 of a jalapeno, minced garlic, lime juice, honey, salt, and ground cumin. Pulse for 30 seconds. THAT IS IT!
Just don’t go overboard on the jalepeno or you may hate yourself. A little goes a long way if you know what I mean.
It’s honestly one of the easiest salsa recipes I have ever found…not to mention it’s so tasty!
- 1{14oz} can diced tomatoes
- 1{10oz} can original Rotel
- ¼ cup chopped onion
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- ½ jalapeno, seeded or not depending on how spicy you like it
- ¼ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp honey
- juice of lime
- In a food processor combine a can of diced tomatoes, a can of Rotel {seasoned diced tomatoes and green chillies}, ¼ cup of onion, ½ of a jalapeno, minced garlic, lime juice, honey, salt, and ground cumin. Pulse for 30 seconds.

Yum! I can’t wait to try this. I LOVE chips and salsa, when we go eat Mexican I usually only get queso, chip, and salsa.
I’ve never attempted to make salsa so this should be interesting!
