{Our Adoption} Home Study Is Complete & Now We Wait

3 Flares 3 Flares ×

I will be sharing some posts on our adoption that I have been writing over the past 6 months. This post was written on July 3, 2012.

I just got the best news from our adoption counselor…

Our home study has been “officially” completed and is in the mail TODAY {July 3rd}!

We have been trying to get this done for MONTHS now and it feels so good to know that it has been sent off to the state.

I know, right? Waiting is all you do when you are adopting. But, we wait…with open hearts.

We wait for the state to approve it {pray that it goes quickly}.

Once we get word back from the state that it has been approved then we will be ready to send our “dossier” to the Philippines. All that means is that we can send our application to get on the “wait list”. Oh the wait list.

Did I mention I’m not patient at all and that this sure does involve a lot of waiting?

Ahem.

The good news is that since the home study was taking so long I went ahead and did everything I needed to do for the dossier and the adoption agency is ready to send our application just as soon as the state approves our home study!

I feel like my husband is in the military again. Hurry up and WAIT.

Gosh, I don’t miss those days. Somehow this seems eerily similar…except instead of giving my husband up for 17 months to fight a war…I will wait roughly 17 months and get to bring home a wonderful new child!

I guess I like adoption much better than the military.

Thank you Jesus for teaching me patience in both the good and bad.

“The times we find ourselves having to wait on others may be the perfect opportunities to train ourselves to wait on the Lord.” ~ Joni Eareckson Tada

Girl… Still praying for you! I can’t even imagine how hard it must be to remain patient, but I just KNOW that God has a child SO special for your guys’ family. I can’t wait for the day we “meet” him! Hang in there! Love you SO!

Totally just happened upon your blog from pinterest and was reading about your adoption process. I have several friends currently in the “waiting” process waiting on their referrals. I shared this quote with them and thought it would encourage you, also.

For a long time there were only your footprints & laughter in our dreams & even from such small things, we knew we could not wait to love you forever

You have my prayers that your “wait” will be shorter than you intend :)
