Painted Laundry Room Sign Tutorial

Thank y’all for the sweet love on my rose stencil project in the master bathroom!

That project was one of those things that you work REALLY hard on and then you feel so accomplished when it turns out so good.

Trust me, I have had my fair share of projects that have went south.  Don’t get me started on my wreath making skills. I may cry. I decided LONG ago to give up wreath diy.

Paint seems to be more my thang’. Tonya, from Love of Family and Home, {yes, I know I talk about her a lot} is the one that turned me on to DIY blogs and so I am sure it is no surprise to you that I used one of her projects as inspiration for this weeks “Make It” Challenge.

This seemed like the perfect solution for my laundry room wall!

Not to mention…this project is VERY INEXPENSIVE! Painted Laundry Room Sign Tutorial Steps

I got the 4 foot wood board from Hobby Lobby and I spray painted it {purple} with left over spray paint that I had in the garage.

You can easily use any kind of stencil letters, but I just happen to have the wooden letters on hand so I used those to trace them on to the painted wood.

You can purchase the letters for $2.49 a piece from Hobby Lobby.

Then I began filling in the letters with a paint brush using off-white craft paint.

Ignore my painting attire. Ahem.

Then I used some sand paper to give it a little bit of a worn look. And the last step is to use some antiquing paint to make it look old and worn.

That’s it my friends!

It’s extremely hard to get good pictures in the laundry room because the lighting is terrible.

Great job! I also love the sign under it – is this also one of your DIY project? One question….. How large are the letters you used for tracing on your board?

Great job! I also love the sign underneath this one – is this another one of your DIY projects? One question I have about your “WASH and DRY” sign is… How large are your letters (inches) you used for tracing?
