I used to be that girl who was on time for everything.
Actually, no. I was EARLY. For everything.
Dance practice. Early.
Class. Early.
Doctors appointments. Early.
Dinner dates. Early.
Jury duty. Early.
I mean, who in their right mind shows up EARLY for jury duty.
And then this thing called “kids” happened.
It’s like I went from having my crap more than together to becoming the hot mess train.
choo-choo, choo-choo, choo-choo…
I remember when I had to take my first baby to his wellness visit after coming home from the hospital and I showed up 15 minutes late. I’m pretty sure it was nearly the first time I had ever showed up late to anything in my life.
I know, lame. But being ON TIME was my thang’. I was that girl, the annoying-on-time-but-really-early-and-made-everyone-else-who-was-late-look-bad girl.
I came home after that first doctor’s appointment with child #1, cried and remember looking at myself in the mirror like, “Really, this is who you have become now??”
If I only knew that time management was about to be the least of my mom problems. Ha.
Granted, I am sure that hormones didn’t help the fact that I was dramatically upset about my new time management skills. Errrr, lack of skills.
The trend of me being late did not get better when I added a second kid. Nor did it get better when #3 came along.
It got worse.
Eventually, I forgot what being the “on time” girl felt like and I got used to apologizing my hiney off for being late all the time.
So folks, this is why I am so excited (and bragging on myself if I am being quite honest) that I have officially already decorated for Christmas.
Yes. Early.
No, I didn’t sell my kids. I still have them.
And I STILL did something EARLY for once. #boom
I almost feel like my old self. Almost.
Until I told my friend I’d be over around dinner last night and I didn’t show up to her house until 10 PM.
But, I mean, that’s all relative, right?! Some people eat dinner at 10 PM.
I don’t know anyone personally who waits that long to eat, but still.
Regardless of how amazingly early, ahem, I am his year… Can we also talk about this invention they call a “slim” tree.
Because holy game changer batman.
It’s probably why I was so eager to start decorating this year because for ONCE, we won’t have to rearrange furniture and feel crammed in our living room during the holiday season.
You can walk from the living room to the dining room. And not get poked by a tree branch.
Amen.
I never even knew a slim tree existed until this year when I was searching on Home Decorators for Christmas decor.
Yea, I live under a rock sometimes.
More like under piles of goldfish crackers and miniature legos.
Anyway, if you want a tree that doesn’t get in the way… the slim tree is uh-mazing.
And because it’s the holidays I’m giving away a $100 GIFT CARD to HOME DECORATORS. It’s, hands down, my favorite place to buy home decor stuff.
Enter below.
ps I will do a Christmas decor home tour soon so you can see the rest of my premature Christmas spirit! Happy Holidays!
pss Now go buy the tree. You will thank me. Oh, and it’s on sale. They are having 12 Days of Deals and it’s only day 2. Ahhhhh!

That tree is lovely…mine looks nothing like that lol. We always cut one down and with all five kids helping to decorate it’s a disaster…but super fun and wonderful at the same time! In my life 10 minutes late is on time, it drives my husband nuts!

This post gives me hope that someday I can decorate my entire tree. For the third year in a row the bottom three feet of my tree have nothing on them because of toddlers!
