It’s funny, this little thing called blogging, and the people that you meet. At times it can be hard, as well described here by my friend AP over at I Love You More Than Carrots.
But, other times? It can be so rewarding. Especially when you realize that for every one negative comment you get hundreds of wonderful comments.
Through my blog I have met people from all different walks of life. I realize that the words I am putting up on this screen are not just my words to be recorded for my online “journal”, but they are words that others read and take in.
Words that mean something to someone out there who can relate. Or who has been in my shoes. My words are not just words of nothingness.
They are words of influence. Even if it’s only one person they have reached.
With that comes great responsibility. I want to make sure that my influence is genuine and clear.
I guess the point I am trying to get to with all of this is that it’s important to me what is posted here on this blog. Whether it be a story of Bents being crazy {which happens often by the way}, my latest home decor project, or my love for Jesus…I want to make sure that I am influencing rightly. Is rightly even a word? Ok, whatever. Unimportant.
About a year ago I met a wonderful girl named Kenz. She started doing my Stop & Smell the Roses vlog link up and I felt like I really got to know her through her videos {another great reason to do video by the way….just sayin’}.
She is younger. MUCH younger than me. But the thing that stuck out to me about her was her faith. She was so grounded. So wonderful in her love for Jesus. And so willing to share it with others. I was inspired.
Here I was, a 31 year old who was worried about what people may “think” or “say” if I talked about my faith on this blog, yet a 17 year old was willing to lay it all out there. It truly gave me a new look on sharing my love for Jesus {thank you Kenz}.
So when Kenzie emailed me to tell me that she has a heart and calling for missions as well as children’s ministry and worship…I was not surprised at all. She recently attended a youth convention and says…
“I attended a youth convention and God clearly laid out His plans to use me in a brand new way. All I needed to do for God to open these doors was dedicate time solely to Him for those two days and open my heart and ALLOW Him to reveal His awesome plans to me. God put it on my heart to raise $500 $1,000 for missions within the next 3 weeks for a missions organization called Speed of Light at my church.”
How awesome is that? A young girl being obedient in her faith and love for Jesus.
So many times I have thought to myself, “I’d love to meet her mom!” And even more I have thought, “I hope I can raise my children to be just like Kenzie.”
Speed of Light is an organization that aims to raise money for missions all over the world. This money is what touches, saves, and transforms lives. Christ is brought to those reached by the supplies and opportunities these funds provide.
I trust her heart and the passion she has behind spreading God’s love. I’m proud of her for taking the step to say, “I’m going to raise $1,000!”
If you would be willing to help Kenzie reach her $1,000 goal for Speed of Light, I know she would be forever grateful. She set out to do big things in a very good way and I want to help be a part of that.
Check out what she has to say about God’s plan for her HERE and if you feel inspired {in any way at all} please donate.
She makes me want to be a better person. A better mother. A better spiritual leader. She may not even know it, but God is already using her to touch women twice her age {ME}!
