In my perfect little world I had these great plans of taking the whole family down to the beach just before sunset…putting my camera on the perfect setting…and having Hannah {our babysitter who we took with us} capture the perfect family photo.
Psssst.
Enter reality.
Reality is this…
SJ goes to bed before sunset.
Even though our condo was ocean front…the ocean was still a small walk away.
Trying to head to dinner with kids that just rolled in the sand was not exactly ideal.
By the time we all got down to the beach, I carried a kid {or two}, stressed about getting my camera on the right F stop {when I barely know what F stop means} and yelled at the boys to STAY OUT OF THE SAND AND THE WATER PLEASE…I would have been one hot sweaty mess. Not picture worthy.
So I decided to scratch the whole “perfect family photo” on the beach idea. Hubby was grateful.
Instead? We opted to have Hannah take our picture outside of the restaurant we went to.
I must say….
1. I was less stressed
2. I was still one hot sweaty mess
3. Sand-infested or not…3 kids under five will not cooperate for family photo shoots unless you are dangling oreo’s in front of them {which we clearly did not have}
It is what it is….and it’s us.
Either Bents was making some silly face {can someone please explain to him that smiling with your bottom teeth extended out is not exactly attractive???}….
…or SJ was screaming his brains out.
And so…we decided that we would all just match SJ’s facial expression.
Vacation 2012 family photo shoot…gone wrong.
He wouldn’t even smile for me when I tried to get some individual shots. But, hey, at least he wasn’t screaming.
The only way to keep him from screaming? Let him hold his toothbrush.
I see that he is going to fall right in line with the Rose boys…only funny faces for cameras.
No smiling allowed.
I have big plans for that perfect family photo on the beach for next year so stay tuned. Ha!

oh man i love these. we didn’t even attempt this year on vacation. too many people had too many excuses. which is fine… because it probably would have been terrible, and we only have one kid on board {so far}.
i actually have a post scheduled that i wrote about a month ago on my birthday when we tried to take just a family shot of the three of us. oh man, its quite funny to go through all the pics.

Because I’m always behind the camera, I am never in any photos. In the rare occasions that we can get a “family” photo, I always put too much pressure on everyone to be perfect. The end result is never good. A photo that best reflects your family dynamic is way more valuable over time!

I have this issue too! We just had a family photo session with a pro and still my son has to throw up gangsta like signs. (no, he doesnt know what that means lol) But he always insists on posing that way when I or anyone else take his picture!
Hehehehe we have family pics scheduled for November when Quinn turns one. I guess I should start preparing myself now for a hot mess.
