I can hardly believe that the end of the year is approaching. It’s November people.
NOVEMBER.
How did that happen?!
I’m debating whether or not to continue this vlog link up for 2014. It’s been super fun and I have learned a ton about vlogging since we started over a year and half ago, but sometimes it feels like it’s time to move on. And I feel like maybe it’s time to move on from this.
I still want to figure out how to incorporate vlogging in to my blog schedule because it’s literally been the BEST to be able to get behind the camera and talk to y’all. But maybe I’ll just move forward with it in less of a linky party kind of way?
What are your thoughts? Do you like the vlogs? Hate them? Indifferent?
A lot of decisions I make on the direction of House of Rose are things that YOU suggest and YOU ask for. So, please…give me your honest feedback.
My honest thoughts? I’m tired of saying, “This is Stop & Smell the Roses where we are talking about something we are thankful for…” Haha!

I always LOVE seeing your name pop up on the link up! Miss you much Nancy!!

I typically find it distracting to listen to music, but not always! It’s kind of like watching TV while reading blogs, for me. 😉 I can’t do both.

That’s so funny because I have ALWAYS said the exact same thing. I have no idea what has gotten into me lately. Haha!

Honestly, without this link up I wouldn’t vlog. Not because I don’t want to, but because I don’t think about it and I’m already nervous enough doing it. Your link up gives me a reason/excuse/motivation to do it. I, for the most part, enjoy vlogs on the occasion. I truly enjoy seeing the personality of the blogger come to live in a video form. Its fun and enjoyable for me. I don’t care for blogs that are heavy with vlogs, because there is a decent chance I am reading the blogs either at work on a break, or in bed while my hubby is sleeping and so I wouldn’t get to fully enjoy their content. I love discovering new blogs through your monthly link up, and I love the concept of stoping and smelling the roses, but I see it getting old. I’m not sure how the logistics would work, but maybe you could come up with a fun topic or something each month to do a vlog link up. Something like, sharing your favorite space in your home, or showing off something your proud of (including kids and/or pets). Each month could be slightly different so it didn’t get so stale. I also think that many people are intimidated by vloging. Maybe you could keep stop and smell the roses alive as a monthly blog post link up where we just write (or vlog if you really want to) about things that are making you smile or are thankful for??? It is such a great concept and ties in to your blog so wonderfully. I know there hasn’t been as huge of a response for linking up, so I totally understand your questioning continuing it into the next year. I hope my options have been helpful. Wow, this is a long comment, sorry. Also on the subject of writing with music. It really depends. I like non-distracting background noise. It can’t be a TV show I’m at all interested in, or a song that I will end up belting out because its too distracting. However, I really do enjoy listening to SOMETHING while I write. I’m still finding my writing grove and developing my process as a writer. Thanks again for hosting the link up. I really do enjoy them!

I truly appreciate your feedback! I agree…I want to include vlogging in some way so maybe I will just change it up some! Thanks so much!!

Hi Mandy,
Like Ashley said, I often check my blogs in my lunch break or while hubby is sleeping, so too much vlogging is a turn off. But I do like catching up with your vlog. It’s fun to hear a voice and see the animation that you have for reals, you know!
I guess this is the downside of having a catch phrase – you say it so many times it begins to lose meaning. so maybe you could change it up a little – rephrase your intro to make you feel the freshness! And I like the idea of doing a monthly theme for the vlog! Again, give it a twist, so you’re still happy with it.
But you know what – this is your blog. So what do you wnat to do??? It sounds like you do want to vlog, but maybe not the thankfulness round up… I can understand not wanting to keep spending time doing soemthing that people don’t link to (that would get old quick), but we’re not all as brave or as organised 🙂 And I’m neither!
I don’t know if I’ve been at all helpful, but I felt like chatting and you get the brunt of it! lol.

I think your blog has changed, I miss the house décor ideas and cooking ideas. And the funny stuff about your kids. It’s gotten too much about “blogging” itself. Kinda gone big time…just hope it’ll get back the way it was.
Mandy says
I’m sorry you feel that way Julie! I don’t think it has anything to do with “gone big time”, but I’ll take that as a compliment. 😉 I do want to include more home decor stuff, but I haven’t had any new projects lately! Hopefully for the holidays I will have some things to post!!

I know what you mean. It used to be a more fun, relatable, and carefree family blog and now it’s more about selling or promoting something with every post.
