You guys might remember last year when my cousin moved in with us as after the tragic death of my aunt and uncle. She moved in and started attending college in the town right by us.
I absolutely loved getting to decorate for a GIRL and even more loved having her with us … and since she’s now living closer to campus with sorority sisters and Nella’s room is complete I’ve had little space to re-decorate – our guest room.
We haven’t technically had a guest room in a VERY long time. It kinda feels nice to be able to have a space where we can invite our out of town friends to come and stay.
You might notice how I “shopped” my own home for a few of these items that make this space work. Plus, hello pillow H-E-A-V-E-N. I’m all about the texture, from shag to velvet they really pulled this entire room together.
I love a good guest room. Hands up if you other Mommas have ever snuck away to the guest room for a few moments of silence?! Amen.
This space was starting to be a catch all in our home… I wanted it to be a cozy and inviting for all our friends and family who visit instead of the room where we close the door and turn our heads.
One of my favorite parts of this room is how we were able to add a little space for guest to use as a desk or for getting ready in the morning. This spot actually used to be our podcast studio way back when.
One of my must haves for the guest room was a big mirror. Since we had already installed additional sconces for when we used it as an office, it worked perfectly for a vanity area. It almost feels like a hotel. Minus the four wild children running around playing dodgeball outside your door.
No one wants to visit anymore, huh?!?
Again, most of the stuff in this guest room is stuff that I already had and reused. I keep a closet full of goodies and switch things in and out of rooms when I get tired of it. Ha!
It’s a great way to feel like things are “new” except you aren’t spending any money.
I have had this mirror for 10+ years. I don’t even remember where it came from, but even if I did, they wouldn’t sell it anymore. Haha!
Who wants to come visit? LOL!

Looks like a cute place to welcome visitors! It’s so nice when you can revamp a place without spending a lot (or any!) cash.

Nicely done! Just yesterday I laid on our guest bed while talking to my bff on the phone. Guest bedrooms are the best to have a quiet, private place to talk with your girlfriends on the phone too. I don’t even have kids but the bedroom just makes it so cozy and you can talk for hours, just like in HS. Ha! I have that sign “Color Outside the Lines” hung in our home office. I love shopping from my decor/craft closet. I really should make it my next project to get that closet a new organizer because I can’t stand seeing the wire rack and plastic bins anymore.
