Back in 2004/2005, my husband introduced me to a workout program called Crossfit. He started doing it when he was deployed overseas in Iraq and fell in love with it! He came home from Baghdad in the best shape of his life.
Because Crossfit gyms were not very common a few years ago…we ended up doing the WOD (workout of the day) at our local Rec Center. It wasn’t ideal, but it worked.
After P Man came in to the world, I stopped caring about working out so much. I was more focused on spending time with my new baby. And even until after Bents arrived…I wasn’t interested in getting my muscle tone back.
However, I recently have found a new love for Crossfit again. There is a new Crossfit gym here in town and it is absolutely WONDERFUL! The trainers are the nicest people you will ever meet and the workouts are killer (in a good way).
Meet Emma.
The head trainer at our Crossfit gym. Trust me…you don’t want to mess with her!
I have never had my a** hurt so bad in my life. But you know what that means….a tight booty! Just like college. Haha!
A lot of people ask me “What is Crossfit?” Here is a little exert from the Crossfit SO ILL website:
“CrossFit is an integrated approach to fitness that builds strength and increases endurance with high intensity workouts that are adaptable to any level of conditioning. Rather than working muscles in isolation, CrossFit exercises involve the entire body, a method that gets balanced results much more quickly than traditional programs which separate the weight room from the aerobics studio. CrossFit workouts have been designed for marines and middle school kids, ultra-marathoners and ultra-couch-potatoes, grandmothers and grand masters.”
It also says this, “The CrossFit program is designed to give you maximum results in a shorter time duration.”
Do you know what that means to a busy working mom of two? Maximum results in a SHORTER time period? SIGN ME UP!
Seriously, some of the workouts are less than 5 minutes. Go ahead….shrug your shoulders and say that there is no possible way you could get a successful workout in 5 minutes. I dare you to try it. Some of the 5 minutes workouts have been some of the HARDEST workouts of my life! I leave there…shirt soaked in sweat. No lie!
Not to mention that Crossfit members are so encouraging and supportive! All workouts can be scaled to your individual level. I can honestly say that EVERY class I have attended, people are pushing you to do your best!
Plus, they are kid friendly. My hubby and I do the Saturday morning class and bring our kids with us.
Head trainer Emma and little Mr. Bents learning how to use a medicine ball.
We start em young!
P Man telling daddy that “he did a good job”! That must be where the smile came from.
If you are like me and really searching for something that is fun and effective, I highly encourage you to give it a try.
Crossfit gyms are everywhere now!! They are so popular! Search for a location near you…and sign yourself up! Or if you live in this area, shoot me an email [email protected] and I can give you the details about Crossfit SO ILL!
