It’s time for the monthly income report.
Each month “The Wife” crunches the numbers on our earnings while I, “The Husband”, puts together a recap of what happened in our online business. A dangerous combo!
As a reminder, this is why we do the income reports:
- Accountability. These will allow us to finally keep track of our total online revenue – something that I’ve been horrible at but seeing improvement. You can go here for all of our previous blog income reports.
- Progress. Now that we have it documented, we’ll be be able to chart our progress as our income increases. (thankfully it has)
- Truth. To show people that you really can make money online and in a non-scammy way.
- Transparency: We want others to see how we do it so that others can do it, too.
Wait….Why 2 Months?
By now you’ve probably noticed that this income report includes both November and December. On top of that, it’s also a podcast. If you’re wondering what gives, here’s the dealio:
- The holidays are a busy time around the Rose household with 3 crazy boys. That cuts into blogging time.
- I’ve been busy with my financial planning practice dealing with existing and new clients.
- I’ve been busy with my blog launching the Grow Your Dough Throwdown and my next blog movement.
- I was sick for 6 days in January.
- Mandy has been busy learning guitar and with Happy Mommy Box (which continues to kick butt!)
- And we spent an amazing 5 days in Cozumel, Mexico. (see picture below)
So yes it’s been a busy time here but that doesn’t mean we don’t love you. 🙂
Here’s a look at the numbers…..

It’s been an amazing journey and we’re excited to continue to inspire you to grow your online business.
If you listen to the podcast you’ll also hear some of our visions for 2014. If you thought 2013 was good, wait till you get a load of 2104.
Thank you for your support!

Hey guys!
I really enjoy your podcasts and your sites!
I was wondering what your “main niche site” means? I’m studying up on how to become a blogger and I like to review your sites and see how they tick.
Thanks for all the great information you provide!
Kathy
Jeff Rose says
@ Kathy Check out the podcast. I talk more about it there.
Thanks for listening!
Kathy says
OK, Jeff, will do.

Miki Vicioso says
Good job guys 🙂 wonder what is that CJ offer you are promoting on both sites ;P
Jeff Rose says
@ Miki For this past month it was Capital One 360. We did a joint savings challenge that you can read more about here: http://www.goodfinancialcents.com/money-saving-challenge/
I’m also planning on writing up a blog post about it, too. Stay tuned!

Fantastic!!!!!!
When I tell people about your website and all that you have achieved, they seem perplexed. I know they are unhappy with their jobs, but it’s almost as if they don’t believe this is real. I ask them if they took the time to look at your website. They say, “no, not yet.”
I’ll keep spreading the word whenever I can. This is just so fantastic I don’t know how anyone could NOT want to try to completely change their lives.
JoAnn says
Hi. Love your podcasts. I’ve been following them for a couple weeks now. Could you tell me what “Main Niche Site Revenue” means? I appreciate your disclosure posts because it inspires me to get writing.
Jeff Rose says
@ JoAnn If you listen to the podcast I explain more in detail on what it’s about. Still don’t reveal the niche, but I will soon!
Naveen says
BRAVO! You’ve well diversified your earnings with number of AD and Affiliate networks. You’ve good earnings by Adsense, CJ and Main niche site.
This will create a spark in to everyone even me to boost the income in this financial year 2014.
Thanking you and have a wonderful day.
~Naveen.
Jeff Rose says
@Naveen Thanks!
Nicholas @ Technary.com says
You guys are awesome! Thanks for sharing the income report. First of all congratulations! 🙂
Now I am your fan! 🙂
Steven Hughes says
Appreciate the transparency Jeff. Do you have anymore information about your niche site? Would like to know more what the offer(s) as that seems to be your big winner. Great job on the affiliates and breaking 1K on Adsense, not an easy feat.
Was just looking at Adspeed. Looks interesting, do you speak further in a post on the tools you use and affiliates?
Best Regards,
Steve
Jeff Rose says
@ Steven
As I mentioned in the podcast it’s a topic that I’m familiar with and compliments my background. That’s about all I say for now but, as I said in the podcast, I’ll be sharing the site at the beginning of 2015. Hope you can wait that long! 🙂
Adsense has been a love/hate relationship. There was a time that I crossed $5k of Adsense in one month and thought I was king of the world. Then Google released Panda/Penguin etc and search traffic fluctuated immensely. My Adsense could probably be higher if I didn’t have the CPM newtworks and affiliates but I think I make more adding those to the mix.
Regarding tools, take a look at this post: http://dollarsandroses.com/24-blogging-tools-to-grow-your-blog-through-the-roof/
Laura says
I just tried starting a blog, following your “How to start a blog” page. I bought the domain through godaddy.com and signed up for hosting through bluehost.com. I want to transfer the domain to BlueHost, but the website says I have to wait 60 days after buying the domain name. Is this something you experienced? Do I have to wait 60 days to start blogging?
Jeff Rose says
@ Laura That shouldn’t be the case at all and I’m not sure whey they would say such a thing. I would suggest calling Bluehost direct and finding out what’s up. You should be able to start blogging immediately.
Diane Roark says
Mandy,
I have been blogging for a couple of years but just this month started to try to make some money. I applied for linkshare and commission junction. I found Commission Junction pretty confusion. Can you recommend some affiliates that you do well with? Also, where do you hide all your ads. I did not see any on your homepage. It is very neat and clean. I did not see any on several posts.
I would love to check them out!
Blessings Always,
Diane Roark

Jeff Rose says
@ Diane
I can answer for Mandy on this one. She’s tried a few different affiliates but none really with much success (other than the recent Capital One Savings account promo we did).
There was a home decor one that she tried. She got several clicks but little to no conversions. Most of her revenue has been through CPM (Blogher), Adsense and sponsorships.
I should also add that she hasn’t been focusing on much with affiliates since Happy Mommy Box has taken off.
Fig @ Figuring Money Out says
Holy crap y’all! $27,383.28 in one month? You guys are killing it! That’s amazing that you doubled your revenue. I’m excited to see what you do in 2014!
Jim says
Hey Jeff & Mandy…
Congrats on the new all time high! This really has been a crazy year for you all, hasn’t it. Lots of achievements! I have been reading you two for almost two years now. And I plan to read for a long time to come, so I will hold you to your word on releasing your niche site. Now I don’t care of the website but am wondering the niche it is in!
Keep up the good work!
To Our Success,
JIM
