Recently a Dollars and Roses reader asked us if they would be able to build a successful blog if they were to blog anonymously.
Since both Mandy and I come from two different blogging niches, I thought it would be good to get perspectives from us both.
In the personal finance niche I’ve seen some bloggers that have been able to build a good following, even though they’ve never revealed their real identify; but in Mandy’s space, blogging anonymously isn’t impossible, but definitely makes it much more difficult.
Listen to the latest Dollars and Roses podcast where we answer the question, can you build a successful blog while blogging anonymously?

Indeed, that is a deep question from Jessa.
It is easier than said to have an anonymous blog, it is easier to trust a blog that you know or you know the owner. I agree it is hard for you to keep your reader coming back. Real life identity means so much more.
I found this post shared on Kingged.com, the Internet marketing social site, and I “kingged” it and left this comment.

My opinion is that she should definitely start her blog anonymously. She’ll quickly learn whether she enjoys blogging or not and then she can “come out” later. It takes time to build a successful blog so if she does end up liking it she’ll have plenty of time to decided whether or not being anonymous is right for her.
The hardest part is getting started. You can figure everything else out later.

Thx for the pimpage, brotha! Glad you’re enjoying the list as much as I am… always fun to peer into peoples’ net worths 🙂 And a lot easier to do while anonymous too!

Lots of pros and cons to being anonymous 🙂 What I always tell people starting out is that it’s always easier to divulge *more* than it is to take away! Once it’s out there these days it’s out there.
