Can you really become an expert on a particular topic.
We believe so.
It’s a matter of taking a life experience, sharing it on the blog, and creating a process to help others go through that experience much easier.
Following those steps will help your blog stand out from a crowded space and help you become an expert in your reader’s eyes.

I just listened to your podcast and am encouraged by what Mandy said: “You don’t have to know everything to be an expert.” I work as a Food Skills Educator for a community helps organization – I teach volunteers how to present simple cooking demo’s based on whole foods. I have decided, on my own time, to set up a how-to recipe blog that my volunteers as well as others around the country, can use as a resource. I am taking step-by-step photos (with my daughter’s camera, a Nikon Coolpix, nothing fancy) and including all the inside info a food demo’ presenter needs to know: sample size and how many samples each recipe makes, prep time, cooking time, equipment needed, and talking points for starting a conversation. I haven’t seen anything like this on the web; wish me luck!

Jeff / Mandy I loved this episode! It’s so intimidating to create a blog and position yourself as an expert before you “feel” like one. But ironically, once you have a blog and provide useful stuff for a couple months people begin to perceive you as an expert because of the blog!
That was absolutely our experience – my husband was an experienced Mixologist (pre-blog.) But now that we have a blog it’s made all the difference in terms of his professional reputation & the opportunities he’s given.
So I really couldn’t agree more – even if you don’t feel like an expert, create that blog and learn by teaching. The perception of expertise will come with time!

Hi happy Roses couple,
You both are doing very well and teaching us a lot of thing. This podcast is very inspiring. Usually I think, this is not possible for me to be an expert blogger and SEO specialist as there are lot of them in this field. Although I am trying hard but have a doubt in my mind. Your inspiring podcast specially Mandy made me feel that I can do so. Thanks …
