Do you ever look at your spouse and say, “What on earth are we going to do with these kids today?”
<<raises hand>>
I know, for me, especially since we have boys {wild boys}…we are constantly looking for fun things we can do as a family!
It’s so easy to get caught in the same mundane routine of staying in the air conditioning or putting them in front of the TV. But doesn’t it feel so good when you do something “together” as a family?!
If you have boys {or even girls}, here are a few of our favorite family fun activities.
1. Go Fishing
I know I claim to be a pretty sassy chick, but even this girl can hang with the fishermen. My boys absolutely adore fishing and, luckily, they bait the hook so that I don’t have to. Thank-you-very-much. I do have some boundaries.
There is something so peaceful about fishing, I tell ya. I’ve even convinced the boys that if they talk too loud…they will scare the fish away. Hooray for a quiet, peaceful 20 minutes. I’ve never seen them be so calm. Try it.
Trust me, when they catch their first fish, they will think they hung the moon. I would encourage you though…teach them how to unhook that sucker. I may fish, but I don’t take fish off the hook. Thank goodness for daddies, right?
2. Be Active
This can mean a number of different things, but for us…it means busting out a little Crossfit Kids in the yard.
I love to nudge them to exercise because I feel it’s setting the right example for the future. And of course, they think it’s the coolest since they get to be “just like daddy.”
You don’t have to have a kettle bell to make this happen…we love to yell out…
“10 burpees…GO!” or “5 push-ups….START!”
They usually race to see who can do it the fastest. It’s a great way to teach your kids about exercise and how to be active. And let’s be honest, it’s nice to get a little calorie burning in for yourself too. Then I don’t feel so bad about the chocolate cake I might devour later.
3. Start a Tickle Fight
The best part about this activity? You can do it anywhere, anytime, and it doesn’t matter your age.
Unless you have a teenager…you might get the side eye if you suggest a family activity centered around tickle fights.
I have never watched my kids laugh so hard. But, seriously…isn’t a daddy sandwich with a little bit of tickle the best?
I love watching my kids smile, laugh and play.
Isn’t it so rewarding to see your kids this happy!

My kids loved Capri Sun, but after seeing a picture on facebook (not sure if it was real or not) of stuff that was found in their containers, I’ve stopped giving them it.

Such cute photos Mandy! We love the outdoors so we spend the summer hiking, swimming, biking, and playing with our dogs. Some ideas for the colder months include painting pottery, family movie night, and sewing. Have a great weekend!! Susan

I’ll be honest…most of our family fun is when we are in the car and we are all jamming to music. My little ones love to dance. 🙂 Going places for us usually results in total stress!
