It’s no secret that I like to decorate walls.
It’s a weird obsession I have. But mostly? I call it therapy.
There is something about arranging frames and using a hammer that feels so good to my soul. Sooooooo good.
Recently, I ran out of wall space.
Yes, that happened.
So I did what any gallery wall obsessed girl would do and I started redoing the walls that were already done. I know, I can hear you right now, but why?
I’ll tell you what I told my husband…
Because it makes me feel good.
And then I looked at him with my puppy dog eyes and said, “Don’t you want me to feel good, babe?”
Bahahahaha.
Kidding, I probably said something more like, “Just let me be crazy!”
He knows better than to question my crazy wall decor ideas.
Plus, I literally don’t spend a single penny when I re-do these puppies. I just rearrange things.
You see, I’ll go steal something from another gallery wall to use it in the new one. I’ll usually do that a few times which then leaves me with more gallery walls to have to re-do.
Win/win.
Or you might look at that as a lose/lose. LOL!
Either way, it works for me.
For example, I stole this big canvas print that says “LIFE IS BETTER WHEN YOU CHOOSE JOY” from my front entryway.
It’s a DIY in case you wondered. Here’s how I did it using an old canvas print.
Once I stole it from the entryway? It left my front entryway wall needing to be re-done next.
Hehe.
Here’s a little before and after of the old versus new gallery wall.
My style is changing.
Although, I’m still moderately obsessed with this white mirrored cabinet. Gah, I love it.
I feel like I like a little more order to the chaos. If that even makes sense.
It definitely doesn’t make sense to my husband. Women are complicated I tell ya.
Since this wall re-do, I’ve redone the entryway, powder room and kids hallway walls.
Oh, and I FINALLY went to Jeff’s office and decorated his walls for him.
No wall is safe in this house. Be warned.

Come to Michigan, I have a few walls that are just screaming for a gallery wall 🙂 Plus, I’m a boy mom of 3- I think we’d have plenty to talk about 🙂

Do you use nails? how do you cover all the holes? Or is there an easier way??? 🙂
Mandy says
Emily, I do use nails – there’s something therapeutic about hammering in nails to the wall. As for covering up the holes…. I either cover them with the photos hanging on the wall or have to fill each hold with putty and paint over it.

I don’t have a single gallery wall in my house. I know – shameful. Our house is currently for sale so I am trying to avoid doing much to it. Next house – gallery walls for days.. I am claiming it now!! 🙂

Lovely gallery wall, both the “before” and “after.” I have absolutely NO eye for design, so this fascinates me!
I may be speaking selfishly, but would you ever consider doing a step-by-step post on how to put together a gallery wall? And I mean then very basics like: how to choose frames (cause the backings are different depending on the frame, and they don’t always fit on the wall well), the design of the gallery, how to arrange the frames, exactly how to hang them … Yes, that basic!) 🙂 That would be a definitely be a huge benefit to those like me who lack the gift of interior design!

Hi Susan! I will have to see what I can do on putting something some DIY step by step guides for creating a gallery wall – in the meantime, check pinterest, there are tons of examples and notes there for making the wall look great!

Hi Mandy,
Did you change the wall color? It looks different in the photo. Do you happen to have the name of the color if you did change it?
Monica 🙂

Oh Mandy, how I WISH I could do my walls like yours! My hubby makes such a big fuss about putting holes in the walls, so our walls are so BARE. Do you fill your holes with anything?
