Just wanted to show you a quick and easy way to add a personalized gift tag with your presents.
I do this mostly for children’s gifts, since kids could care less about real cards. Heck, most of the parties I’ve been attending…the kids aren’t old enough to read. You think they care about a card? NOPE!
Instead of spending the $3.95 on a hallmark card, I would rather put that money towards the actual gift and get them something a tad nicer.
By the way, my mom would kill me right now if she were reading this. She is the QUEEN of giving cards. 🙂 I guess I didn’t get my “card hater” trait for her.
And don’t get me wrong. I like cards. And I think cards are appropriate in certain situations. But when it comes to kids gifts…I’m ALL about the homemade FREE tag!
I use construction paper. I usually try to use a cute color, one that matches the gift bag. In these pics I used an oatmeal color because it’s all I had laying around the house. I have a pair of funky scissors that cut cute borders. I cut out a square or rectangle piece out of the paper and I write a personlized message on the tag in a silver marker or paint pen.
I keep a few different spools of ribbon at the house. I have a bunch of left over ribbon from when I use to make binky strings. Hole punch the tag…snip about a 6 inch strip of ribbon…and tie the tag to the gift bag. If you are using wrapping paper you don’t even need the ribbon! Just tape your tag to the box.
There you have it! No card purchasing necessary. Easiest and CHEAPEST gift card tags EVER!
Happy Birthday to Brooke and to Braden!

Great idea! We have a ton of construction paper laying around. And I am with you, I am so sick of paying $4 for a card the kid could care less about.
I wish I would have seen this yesterday as went to a party today.

Awesome idea. We are also not into the whole card giving thing either. But now that the boys are older, they have been giving their friends cash as gifts. Brooke by the way loves that bag and has it in her room. She uses it to carry all her stuff. She and another girl played Barbies the other night at Mason’s baseball game. Thanks again and glad you and Parker could make it.
