…OR MAYBE I AM.
If I were….I’d be pointing them at the people who wasted my time put an offer on our house and then backed out.
Here’s kind of what went down…
They looked at it twice on Sunday. Emailed me Monday morning saying they were “fully interested in buying our house”. They wanted to get the home inpsection done to get the ball rolling.
I agreed to it under 2 conditions:
1. They used a certified inspector
2. I get a copy of the inspection
She compeletely 100% verbally agreed to those terms and by Tues. at 3pm there was an inpspector at our house.
When I arrived the potential buyer (let’s call her PB for short) explained to me that “legally she didn’t have to give me a copy of the inspection”. Keep in mind, this is already an hour into it and AFTER she verbally agreed to giving me a copy over the phone.
I was pretty much breathing fire at that point. Apparently this PB had no idea what “legally” meant because “legally” a verbal agreement is STILL AN AGREEMENT!
Anyway, after I in my mind punched her in the face and told her to get out of my house walked out of the room to calm down, I tried to be as nice as I could and put the “mishap” behind us.
After all, I was stuck with her for the next 3 hours while they finished the inspection. I needed it to not be the worst 3 hours of my life. And to be honest, from that point on, we had good conversation.
The inspection went good!! Our house was built in 1981 so of course they are going to find a few minor things. But, overall, I was very happy with how it turned out.
As soon as they inspector left, the PB handed me their offer.
It was an offer….but a little lower than what we could settle for.
So, we counter offered later that night.
I figured they would come back and counter offer us and we would go back and forth until we about met in the middle (which would have been where we were comfortable selling it at).
However, the PB called me back 24 hours later to tell me that they were going to decline our offer and withdraw theirs??????????
I was slightly annoyed and felt like jumping through the phone and saying thanks for wasting my time confused. I mean, they just spent $300 on a home inspection that came back with flying colors, made us an offer, and now all of the sudden, they are backing out.
I politely inquired “why” and her response was “well, I think we are going to get a cheaper house or not get one”.
HUH???
So, you were paying for a home inspection on a home you can’t even afford? (Of course, I didn’t say that out loud). I mean, did you not think about that before you went looking at houses in this price range??
Needless to say, I was pissed confused, but was SOOOO done dealing with her at that point that I kindly said “ok” and hung up.
Oh, and she had the adacity to ask me if I would like to buy the inspection from her! HA!
NO THANKS!
I take pride in knowing that you just blew $300!
UHHH, the nerve of some people.
So, as much as I was ready to sign on the dotted line and hand our house over to some whackos, I am thankful that the deal did not happen.
Since the weather has gotten nicer we have had more and more interest and I am confident that we will find a buyer soon! A buyer that is a little more intelligent when it comes to “agreeing” to things.

I totally understand. Brons and I were selling our first house about 6 years ago and this guys stops by on a Saturday, looks around for 15 minutes and says “I’ll take it”. He writes us a check for $2,000 in earnest money and says I will be back to sign a contract in a couple days. Monday morning he calls and says he changed his mind and had the nerve to ask for his check back. He obviously didn’t understand the meaning of an agreement or the definition of earnest money! There are some crazy people out there!
