Proverbs 31:10-12
An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, And he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil. All the days of her life.
I wish I could tell you that I prayed that I would find a wife that love and supported me unconditionally. That she would be a Godly woman that was fearless in her faith.
While I sincerely hoped that would happen, I never actually prayed about it.
Knowing what I know now, I would have prayed everyday about it.
But isn’t that what makes God who He is? All knowing.
Matthew 10:30
30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
God knew exactly what I needed.
The path had already been chosen and I’m thankful that I had good company around me to help me recognize those nudges.
The Perfect Wife For Me
In previous relationships I was very manipulative. I would always get what I wanted.
I could blame it on being an only child. I could blame it on having parents that divorced at a young age. I could blame it on eating too many mayonnaise sandwiches as a kid (yeah, I did that).
At the end of the day my past relationships weren’t healthy and I needed a woman that was strong enough to challenge me.
Enter Mandy.
This woman is fearless. She’ll argue to the end about anything. She’s not afraid to call me out when I need it.
And trust me. I need it.
And I need it often.
Mathew 18:15
15 If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
It took A LOT of patience and grace to be finally listen. Sometimes the truth hurts, but often it’s necessary.
Marriage isn’t easy. Duh, right?

Why I Love Her Even More Now
Ephesians 5:25-27 – Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
I strive to be the best spiritual leader in our household.
But there are times when I’m flat out lazy.
There are times where I wake up Sunday morning before church and the thought of having to get of all three kids dressed, fed and out the door by 8:30am don’t sound as appealing as hitting the snooze button on my phone alarm.
Anytime those thoughts creep in I’ll then hear my wife in the shower getting ready. For a woman that requires more sleep than me, I’m so inspired this.
For a woman that wasn’t brought up in church, she is the first to raise both hands during worship and submit herself to Him.
For someone that was terrified to receive hands on prayer, she’s quick to step up and pray over friends that need it.
Her faith has grown so much and although I don’t tell her enough, I LOVE IT!
I thank God for putting a strong woman in my life that’s excited to chase Him and praise Him.

Jeff, it’s so awesome for you to publically affirm Mandy like this. Being an *ahem* strong woman myself, I know in younger years that quality scared off many guys. But now as an adult, I see that it becomes increasingly attractive. Love what you guys are doing and spurring others on to have marriages built on Solid Ground.
