Have you heard of the show Fixer Upper? Well, we have and we’re both kinda obsessed. The main couple, Chip and Jojo, are a treat to watch and have one of the best marriages.
Here’s why we like them and how we all can learn a tip or two from their marriage and apply it to ours.
The story goes… last week Jeff was doing some crazy no carb diet and rather cranky. While Jeff’s on said diet, Mandy started redecorating.
While decorating is totally Mandy’s thing, after watching an episode of Fixer Upper, it can totally been seen that while Chip might not really care too much about the decor that Jojo is doing, he’s still super uplifting and encouraging to what she’s doing.

Take it from Chip, he’s the man. Super encouraging and supportive of what Jojo is doing even when it’s decor and you really don’t care what the room looks like in the end…
Let’s talk about Chip. Apart from being the MAN who is super encouraging he’s got all the handy skills. Last time our toilet was broken, the light bulbs in the basement needed replacing and the shiplap was being put up, we could have used Chip’s help for sure.
Let’s talk about Joanna. Mandy thinks that they are BFFs. What Joanna does, Mandy pretty much does too. #Shiplap… white distressed wood… can I get an amen??
Beyond the surface, Joanna has faced some seasons of waiting on her dreams to raise her babies… and that’s something that can totally be related to too. Whether it was putting Happy Mommy Box on hold or stepping away from some other big ideas to spend some time doing less to live more.
What’s more to love about the Gaines? They are just normal people living out what they believe and loving each other well through the mess of daily life.
Most of all we love that they love the Lord and while in the TV show it doesn’t get shown that they are going to church and praying… it’s obvious to see that the solid foundation they have built their lives around is Jesus.
What’s the big takeaway from this episode? Marriage is far better and totally noticeable when Jesus is the center. Plain and simple.
