It’s been a few day since I blogged. I hate when that happens. I think I have secretly been depressed because I have to go back to work on MONDAY.
Yes. Monday.
As in 3 days from now.
Holy mother of craziness. Has it really been 12 weeks already?
I have truly enjoyed my time as a SAHM this summer! Sure there were days when I thought I may go nutso, but overall, I have loved spending time with all my babies (including Bents – ahem).
I have learned more things about Transformers and Superheros than I ever wanted to know. And in case you were wondering, I always play Optimus Prime. P is always Megatron.
Talk about talent. Mommy aka Spiderman can cook grilled cheese in this mask. True story.
I am hoping that when Monday comes, I change my attitude and decide that I WANT to be at work and not running around the house acting like a robot that can turn in to a car. Not likely since the stock market is not playing nice these days.
I stuck to my word and only checked my work email ONCE okay maybe twice since I have been off. If you know me, THIS IS A BIG DEAL!
But, going back to “work” that has NOT been touched in 12 weeks…DOES NOT EXCITE ME! I have had a few employee’s filling in for me when I was out so that has been helpful, but I imagine it’s going to take a FULL week to get through my email. Just the thought of it makes me want to jump off a cliff.
Hubby and I had the chance to go to Chicago this past week for a few days. He had a work conference up there and I got to tag along.
Gigi and Papa agreed to watch the boys. I am not sure if they were glad or disappointed that they agreed to 4 days of Rose boys. Ha!
Here are just a few texts I got from my dad on day 2 and day 3 (you may have seen this on twitter, but I wanted to document here so I would never forget these moments):
Day 2 = “I love your boys but I’m hoping you 2 got separate rooms for your trip. haha!!!” #no4thchild
and
Day 3 = “Ma said you missed ur boys. I said when I was in Florida I missed your boys too! Right now I miss Florida! J/K”
AND my mom sent me this text (attached with this picture) on day 4:
“This is right after he threw a shovel at me.”
I think they may never agree to watch our kids for 4 days again.
And while they were wishing we would turn the car around and come home happily watching our kids, we were enjoying ourselves a little JCM!
Who knew I liked John Cougar Mellencamp? I had such a great time! We were front and center and I was rocking out to a little “Jack and Diane”. What’s not to love about that!
I decided to make a hair appointment in the city and do something drastic. I was in need of a change. And if you know me, I change my hair all the time. 🙂
I think I like being a brunette again.
Ask me again in 2 months and I’ll probably want to be blonde.
The MIL arrives tomorrow and I am pretty excited to have some extra hands around here. I’ll take all the help I can get. If you lived here with Bents…you would too.

There’s nothing worse than that moment you realize going back to work is so soon! I’m so sorry your time has come… I’m sure your boys loved having you home. Good luck on Monday! You have a whole lot of cuteness you’ll be leaving – but hopefully you’ll enjoy it once you’re there. I’ll be thinking about you!

How crazy, it seems like you were just tweeting about Sloane’s arrival… Are your parents watching the kids while you work? Or just SJ maybe? Wondering what you’re doing for that. You definitely need an Auntie Nanny like me. ;o) I rock, if I do say so myself. Ha!
You know already, but your dad’s texts definitely cracked me up. I’m sure they secretly enjoyed every single minute of their Rose Tornado Time! I mean, after having a girl they probably love having boys around to enjoy and those kids are so damned cute! Alright, who am I kidding. They’ve probably been “napping” since your return!
Hoping your return to work goes smoothly as it has to be pretty hard to do. Loving your family and loving your career is a tough balance but I’m sure you’ll do great! Hope it will be a good thing to have MIL around during this time… it’s definitely not always a good thing. lol!

Hey frriiieeennndd!
Yuck – so sorry…… I won’t lie, going back to work sounds awful! BUT, after a week or two you’ll be fairly caught up and back into the routine!
And JCM?! Yes, please! Something about Jack and Diane just makes me want to sing along at the top of my lungs.
Lastly, I love the new hair!
Wishing you an awesome weekend with your three crazy, precious minis!

I love those texts!! Sooo funny. Great sense of humor from your mom and dad. You look really cute with the new hair color! Will be thinking about you next week. It always takes a little time to get back into the “work groove”. XOXO

Mandy, you need to stop whining about going back to work on Monday. You of all people should know how lucky you are to have a job to go back to considering that your husband writes a “pretty well known personal finance blog” and you both are aware of the horrible unemployment rate right now. As a Christian, you should count your blessing instead of complaining about them. Shame on you.
