Most of you know that my husband is a personal finance blogger. He is VERY passionate about personal finance.
*understatement*
At times, I find it boring. I can only read so much on saving and investing before I’m asleep. Ahem.
I’m just being honest.
And lets be serious, he doesn’t find mommy topics, fashion, and diy projects all that interesting either so I don’t so feel bad.
Even though I don’t always love to read up on budgeting, investing, and retiring rich…I do absolutely love when he motivates people to get on a better financial path than the one that they are on.
He’s good at it. And frankly, understanding your finances is so important.
“So Mandy, why are you boring us with all these wonderful words about your husband and personal finance?”
Well, I’m so glad you asked!
Oh you didn’t ask?
I’ll tell you anyway.
On March 27, 2012 (as in 19 days from now) he is starting a Roth IRA Movement. Tell me you know what a Roth IRA is? If you don’t, even more reason you will want to pay attention.
He is trying to get TONS and TONS of bloggers to blog about the Roth IRA on March 27th. Anything about it. Why it’s important. Why you have one. Why you didn’t know what one was until you read this post and looked it up. ANYTHING about the Roth IRA.
Please take a minute to watch this vlog for more information on how you can help and find out why he is starting this movement…
*Update: He now has 87 bloggers lined up to participate and that number is growing by the hour. He also has some major media outlets who are on board. He will link back to you if you commit to participating! Find out how you can be involved by visiting his blog post about the Roth IRA Movement.
Thanks is advance for joining the movement to educate people on saving!

Is it bad that I definitely fall into the group of people who couldn’t tell you what a Roth IRA is? Dipal would probably roll his eyes at me for that because I know we’ve talked about it many times. I’m horrible at keeping financial stuff straight. I could blog from the “I have no idea what this is, but I’ll learn” perspective… Don’t know how informational that would be though. 🙂

@Brittany
Think of it as a challenge to learn something. 🙂
Also, a simple post that brings awareness to the campaign will be good enough.
My hope with the campaign is to not just bring awareness to the Roth IRA, but investing in general and why it’s so important to get young people on board.

Love the way your hubby says “Blawwwwg” and “Blawwwwgers” instead of Blog and Bloggers! First time I’ve ever heard it pronounced that way and it’s too cute!!
I will pass on his video to some friends, and hopefully it will get more people interested. Thanks for sharing!

I have to shamefully admit I will be 28 in a month and I haven’t started any kind of retirement fund what so ever. With this crazy economy and lack of stable jobs I have definitely struggled on this. I am currently saving with the plans of opening a ROTH IRA with USAA. So… at least I have a plan?

This is so great of Jeff to do. I know a lot about retirement planning etc because of my past life in banking, and unfortunately we’re going through a major life change that is turning our retirement plans on their head. SO- I’m wishing I’d been investing in a Roth IRA sooner. :S
Anyway, I think it’s so important to reach young people about this- especially college students. They often graduate and have more income than they’ve ever had before, and I think a lot of times it goes to frivolity.

Just sent this over to my husband who is also in finance and has a trading blog. Thought he might enjoy it! Thanks Mandy!
