Another place in S.F. that I HAD to go to….Nest Maternity!
We don’t have cute little children boutiques where I live. Darn you small towns.
It may or may not have been a $15 one way cab ride from our hotel to get to this place. But, isn’t it adorable?
And I left with a new fabulous diaper bag that I got ON SALE.
Even if the sale was outweighed by my cab fare (thanks to the hubby for pointing that out).
I am obsessed with my new Nest bag because it has…literally…a million pockets. I love organization (I know that’s old news).
And it’s big enough for me to use now that I will be lugging THREE children around. That’s 3 sets of snacks. 3 sets of toys. And 2 sets of diapers. I may need a suitcase before it’s over.
Speaking of three kids. I am sooooo trying to avoid having to purchase a minivan. Really, I am just not the minivan type and I SWORE to myself that I would never get one. But, after our trip this weekend to visit my grandma…the Tahoe just ain’t cutting people. And that was only with 2 kids.
So, my choices are: HUGE SUV with 3 rows (and drives like a bus) or minivan.
I’m having a love/hate relationship with the organization/cool factor in all of this.
See, I love to be organized (again), but I also take pride in being the “cool” mom. The question is…do I love organization more than the coolness factor?
I think I know the answer, but I just don’t want to admit that I may actually purchase a minivan.

Have you seen the “swagger wagon” ads for the Toyota Sienna? Hilarious!

First of all, LOVE the bag! Now on to the minivan conundrum…I’m totally with you. It sucks that you even have to contemplate such a purchase! ๐ With that said, here are SUVs I like: Suburban (HUGE but packs everything in like a dream), Buick Enclave (not as huge but has 3 rows), and the new Honda Crosstour (this suggestion is no help to you b/c it only has 2 rows) but I’m just sooo in love with it, I want someone I know to purchase this car! I’m sure I was zero help, but good luck anyway! Can’t wait to see what you decide! ๐

I love your diaper bag. I’m currently on the hunt for a cute/functional one. As for the mini van, I will say most of my friends who drive them SWORE they never would but after looking at both suv/mini van couldn’t resist the mini van. I hate to admit it but when we outgrow our SUV (Lexus RX suv) I’m sure we’ll get a mini van. There will only be 2 options for me though…the honda or toyota. Good luck. ๐

Bag…ADORABLE! I love all of the pockets. I drove a mini for a couple of years, and the benefits really do out weigh the uncool factor, and besides you don’t have to have it FOREVER. Jessica Poole just got a 2011 Sienna that is pretty sweet.

Cute diaper bag!! You know what I am going to say in regards to the minivan, being a proud minivan owner myself….JUST DO IT!! Yeah, you definitely won’t feel too cool driving it, but they are super nice & super roomy! I really like mine and I don’t even have a really nice one! Go for it girl….you will ROCK the minivan!! ๐

Cute bag… can you tell us what brand it is? I have a Nissan Pathfinder and it has 3 row seating, the suburbans are nice but they are huge! I have passed by a few not too bad looking mini-vans so if you go that route I think you’d own it with a cute sportiness besides once the kids get bigger you’ll probably be hauling their friends around too. I only have 1 child but some w/e’s my 3 rows of seats are filled!

From my experience, families with three kids do MUCH better in SUV’s than Mini-Vans. Having to climb into the back seat no matter what is always a pain. With three kids in an SUV, you put the two older ones on the outsides and the baby in the middle. It gets much easier once you’re used to it. All of my friends who bought mini-vans to make their life “easier” have sold it within a year to get an SUV.

What a great diaper bag! I’m not a mom yet, but I don’t see myself driving a mini-van when I am. Why don’t you check out a YukonXL or even a Tahoe with three rows.

I was the same way when it came to the Great Minivan Debate!!! We have 4 children…1 booster seat, 1 car seat, 1 infant seat and a 10 yr old…so we needed something with room and I didnt want a van. We ended up getting a Lexus LX with the 3rd row seating and I LOVE IT!!! Its got plenty of room and is easy to manuever the kids and carseats around, plus you have room for stuff if you are running errands or traveling. The one perk of the mini van we test drove was that its low enough to the ground that the kids can get in and out themselves…which is a HUGE deal for a toddler ๐ Good luck in your adventure!!!

Love the diaper bag! ๐ I wish I would have went to San Fran when I was pregnant to buy clothes/accessories instead of just Target & Kohls in my town. Instead we went after, but I purchased a ton of cute baby clothes for K, so that was nice!
I know what you mean about needing more room. I had a Tahoe & got rid of it even though we just had our 1st child. I actually got rid of it because I didn’t want to have to climb up on the step to put the car seat in and out in the winter and slip or something. I bought a new Equinox which I LOVE LOVE LOVE, but it definitely only has 2 rows, BUT if you like Chevy (this is going to sound like I am advertising it because our dealership is Chevy, but in all honesty) you should try the new Chevy Traverse. It is great in the snow (I drove one while my equinox was on order) and it comes with 3 rows with a TON of room. ๐ Just a suggestion, it is the trailblazer/mini-van crossover since Chevy isn’t making either of those anymore, so you get the room & space like a mini-van, but it totally looks sweet. ha! Good luck with your decisions!

I hear ya Mandy, I absolutely LOVE the convenience, the room and most importantly automatic sliding doors that my minivan has. We can fit 7 people comfortably in our van, but better with just six. I have ONLY good things to say about our minivan (Toyota, Sienna XLE), but it definitely took some getting use to with the cool factor…but jumping into that AFTER having my Camry was like a dream come true. They have better gas mileage than Suburbans and other larger SUV/s too AND don’t cost as much…although the Honda and Toyota are the priciest and BEST in the minivan spectrum (my opinion). I would love to have a suburban for the cool factor, but i really don’t worry about cool anymore….but our family DOES off road and go on little adventures that would make it nice to have a suburban.

First time reader here! Cute blog!
I had to weigh in on the minivan debate! I just recently had to purchase a new car because my Mazda 9 was just not cutting it anymore. I have ALWAYS been very anti-mini, but after three weeks of car shopping, I was getting desperate. All of the SUV’s I tested were just too bulky, and with gas prices rising so quickly it was all giving me a headache. After about 20 recs to test drive a Toyota Sienna, I finally gave in one afternoon… And bought it right then and there! I have the XLE, with 2 captain’s chairs on the middle row, and it is AWESOME. I can have 3 kiddos with me, and you can seat them where they can’t even touch each other! (Which on any day of the week is a feature worth having!)
And definitely YouTube “Swagger Wagon” if you haven’t seen it! TOO FUNNY!!
