Welcome to a new feature that will be doing here on the blog – Monthly Site Reviews!

Many of our readers have asked to take at look at their sites to give them candid feedback.

Trust me when I say this:  We would love to review all of your sites!

Unfortunately, there is one small little factor interfering with this.   That little thing called “time”.   🙂

I thought the next best thing is to review one lucky site per month, do a video on it and share it with all of you.   That way you might pick up a few ideas from what we share with the site that we are reviewing.

Do you want us to look at your site? Either leave a comment with a link to your site or use our contact form and tell us you’re interested. There’s no guarantee will get to your site, but we’ll do our best. *Pinky promise*

Blog Mentoring

I can’t take sole credit for this idea.   I was contacted by the peeps at BlogMentoring.com in helping mentor a new blogger.  The Bloggers Helping Bloggers Online Mentoring Program was founded in August 2012 by Jana, owner and blogger at Daily Money Shot. J. Money from Budgets are Sexy and Blog Sexier came on board in November 2012 and hit me up to see if I was interested.

And since I love J. Money so much, I couldn’t say no.   🙂

My mentee that I was partnered with was Mindy from the blog TheInsurist.com.   I chuckled when I learned this since I, too, offer life insurance so this would be a really easy one for me.

Below are the same suggestions that I shared with Mindy on a phone call that I had with her.

  1. What a great service! I’ve emailed Mandy before with a blog question. I am located just across the river from you guys in west St. Louis county.

    I share a blog with my sisters – http://www.thefourjs.com. I am the only one who has some experience blogging so I have been leading the charge. We have a lot of work to do, particularly in increasing readership. Eventually, I would love to monetize the blog and receive requests for PR/reviews/giveaways.

  2. This is an awesome idea! Sometimes we know our own blogs too well and don’t see the important things that we are missing. I’d love to have the chance for you guys to give your honest suggestions on how I could improve my blog. I’m keeping my fingers crossed hoping you choose mine!

    I’m not selling any particular product yet but I think it’d be cool to get a site review done for Money Life and More. (http://www.moneylifeandmore.com) We’re just a personal finance blog and I’ve always wondered what works and what doesn’t to someone who hasn’t really explored my site before. I’ve seen it so much I know where to look for everything but I could easily be missing something from a new person’s perspective.

  5. I love your sites, your style and message and would love any feedback about my site. I’m a fashion stylist and have been in business in Kansas City, MO since 2009. We upped our online presence last year and now would like to monetize our blog. I’ve been following you a short time but am very inspired but need good direction with affiliate blogging and development…. Anyvadvice is appreciated 🙂

  6. Um, yes! I would LOVE to have your input! I have been blogging for several years, but just started to take it all more seriously. Bluehost and Thesis have been employed (because of your recommendation) and I’m well on my way. There has been a major learning curve, of course, but I feel like I’m coming along! Thanks!

  8. I would love to be chosen, what a fun idea! I’m a “newer” blogger but still have a long ways to go. As a full-time working mom of two young girls, my blog is mostly lifestyle-helping other working moms simplify their lives. However, I do also have a part-time health & wellness business, and I tie in my brand partner to my blog because of how much it helped me, and of course to bring in extra money each month.
    I could use some expert help in a couple areas – first in tying the two together, because I am combining a lifestyle blog and a business. Second, I am busy! I have a husband, children, a full time job, a house to keep, and everything else that comes with life. So having an expert to mentor me to help me best make use of the little time I have for the biggest bang would be great! You can find my website at http://www.michellemuckala.com.

  10. Hey Jeff & Mandy!

    I’ve been trying to blog FOREVER…but couldn’t figure out my “passion” per se. I had to do some soul searching and I discovered it revolved around ways to be thoughtful. Thoughtful to others…animals…the environment…ourselves…etc. It revolves around all things good. I have used your Dollar & Roses site SO much. When you are starting out as a new blogger it can feel like you are on an island alone. Google seach seems to be your only friend. You both have already been mentors to me with all of your advice and wisdom. Thank you Mandy for posting about PicMonkey and inspiring me with all of your creativity. Jeff, thank you for your post about getting off your butt and just blogging. I am such a planner that I was spending so much time thinking about blogging, but not actually doing it.

  12. I just discovered all of your blogs and I’m really enjoying them! I’m also a fan of Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income blog and like many others, I’m fascinated by the concept of earning money online. I like that in addition to your financial blog, Mandy’s blog is being showcased, as I’ve seen many diy/craft/decor/lifestyle blogs that seem to be doing really well from a financial standpoint. And ok, it helps that I can relate to the latter types of blogs more than creating a niche site, for example. 🙂

  14. Oh Sensei…so much great help in that one conversation! We’ve gotten through about half the suggestions and will get to many of the others after a few larger changes in the works. I think you should make your monthly reviews a give away…def work their weight in gold. Cheers and thank you!
