This year we didn’t travel. We usually head up north to see my extended family, but for some reason ever since my grandma B’s passed away I haven’t been able to muster up the energy to go back. I know I have other family there {that I love very much}, but it’s just so hard to go there and NOT be able to stay at my grandma’s house.
I’ve been visiting there since I was born and weΒ always always always stay in her basement. To think about going back and her house being sold just makes me all sorts of sad. So I choose to avoid.
Do you ever do that? Avoid a situation all together so you don’t have to deal with the hurt?
I know one day soon that will have to end. My other family up there may disown me if I don’t get over this soon. Haha!
We ended up spending Thanksgiving here with some of our very best friends, the Webb’s. Thank goodness they let us crash their Thanksgiving because otherwise I might have had to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal by myself, and if you know me, you know that would have been completely out of character for me , the non-chef.
I did bring Homemade Baked Mac-N-Cheese and Chocolate Chip Cookies, but that was the extent of the cooking for me.
We had a wonderful time and I feel so grateful that we had somewhere to spend Thanksgiving.
We are babysitting my parent’s dog while they are away and I about lost my cool no I did lose my cool when BOTH dogs decided to roll in animal poo outside MINUTES before we were headed off to Thanksgiving lunch. I was screaming at them crazy satan style. As my husband said to me, “I wasn’t sure if that was a pimple you had on your forehead or if you grew a horn.”
UGH! I feel guilty for overacting, but DANG…cleaning poo was not on my list of things to do today. I know I should just be thankful, right? I should probably be mostly thankful that we even have water to clean the poo.
Our dry wall people screwed through our water line on Wednesday at noon and I was really wondering whether we would spend the next 5 days without water. Luckily my dad has a friend that’s a plumber and he came over and fixed us up within hours.
But can you imagine if the dogs would have rolled in poo and we had no water? See….I feel thankful now. Haha!
I opted to not participate in Black Friday shopping. Although I was really tempted to head out and try and get a steal on a tv for the basement. But, being the fact that we have family pictures tomorrow, I thought it was a good idea that I didn’t sport any black under-eye circles. Plus, the crowds stress me out. I’m one of those people who would rather just pay the extra $50 than to fight someone at Best Buy over a 60 inch flat screen.
Do you know who’s back? Sophie. Our Elf on the Shelf. It’s a long way till Christmas so here’s to hoping that our elf doesn’t forget to fly back to the North Pole every now and then.
So, how did you spend Thanksgiving? Do you travel or do you stay at home? Β And I’m curious, did you Black Friday shop?

Looks like you guys had a great Thanksgiving! Ours was totally laid back, since we aren’t hosting my family until Sunday. We just took the kids to a movie and ate beef sandwiches at Dana’s house π And if it makes you feel better…Howie rolled in poo yesterday too. And tracked it through the house. Awesome π Good luck on your family pics today! Our Elf “Toodles” is arriving this evening and I think you and I should text each other reminders to hide him each night!

Glad you had a great Thanksgiving. Since we have no family here we never travel for the holidays. Of course I miss my family but it’s nice not to travel. Also, if you have any hhgregg’s near you I know someone who can get you a smokin deal on a tv. And you don’t even have to fight for it π

Be glad you didn’t go to Kohl’s with me at midnight!! I had to stand in line for 2 hours just to check out!! I didn’t get home until 3:30am & had to get up at 7:00 this morning because Bobby went to St. Louis with this step-dad to get a new car!!
It’s gonna be a LONG DAY!! Need more coffee!!

Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving!
Since our parents are gone we don’t travel anymore. We stay at home with the kids and grandkids. I am a little spoiled cuz my hubby cooks the turkey and dressing (thank goodness) and I just fix the sides. We have our big meal at dinner time so we just had a lazy day.
I did beg the hubby to go Black Friday shopping, but he said no so I just stayed at home (I really wanted on of those TVs) and watched sappy Christmas movies on Lifetime!! π

Our Thanksgiving was okay. We had a great dinner thanks to my husband. We just moved from the east coast all the way to Washington. We haven’t really met anyone yet, so it was just us this year.
My husband was supposed to work today, so I hadn’t planned on going shopping. He got the day off at the last minute, so I stopped in a few stores. I didn’t really see anything I couldn’t get online cheaper, but I had fun browsing for a couple hours by myself. π

Aww, looks like a happy thanksgiving! Totally know what you mean about avoiding a situation/place altogether just to avoid the hurt. It’s never, ever easy losing someone you love because there’s always those memories that just kill you… The ones you want back so badly. I know Christmas is going to be really, really tough this year without my Grandpa Richard who passed away in August.
Anyway – can’t wait to see family pictures of y’all! I bet they turned out just precious! π XOXO!

Baylor is adorable! We went to Target, but it was a complete disaster. People were pushing and just outright rude. We even had someone break our hands apart red rover style. There was a lady in a wheel chair (that could totally walk because I saw her walking to get to the end of the line while waiting) that stopped in the middle of an aisle to talk to a Target employee and no one could get by them. We put our stuff that we had picked up back and left. Went home and shopped online instead.
Other than this we had a fantastic Thanksgiving.
