For just a brief moment this past weekend…I felt like I was in college again.
And I quickly remembered how much FUN I had in college.
I danced for 4 years on the college dance team and we were known as the “Saluki Shakers”.
Each year during Homecoming, they ask all of the Shaker Alumni to come back and perform pre-game and half-time.
Usually there are only a few girls who do it, but this year, thanks to a couple alum Shakers, we had t-shirts made and it was somewhat organized!
There were 44 alumni Shakers who participated!! So much fun!
There weren’t too many girls from my era. ERRR! Luckily, my friend Shannon came down and stayed with me.
And there were a few others that I LOVED seeing!
I am yet to get my two besties to get their butts down here. Both of them are making promises for next year. And you better believe…I’m holding them to it!
Posing with our old coach! Gotta love Tawmi!
It’s funny how…even after SEVEN + years of not performing school song…the music starts…AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO! Haha!
Can you tell I was having a GREAT time re-living the college days? 🙂 And I absolutely adored the Shaker standing next to me. She was a doll!
Because I know Jen, from A Daily Dose of Davis, is DYING to bust out school song in her living room right now…heck Addie may even know school song by now…here is a video for your viewing pleasure.
DO.NOT.LAUGH.

Loove it!!! You look great out there! My bff and I still try to stunt with our husbands… haha! But we were just HS cheerleaders for 4 years not part of a college squad of any sort. I could totally still bust out our fight song dance! 🙂 For our safety… we won’t be trying basket tosses anytime soon! Dangit! 🙂

I have been reading your blog for some time now and wanted to reach out to you and let you know that I am really good friends with one of your fellow shakers, Heidi! I met her when she moved up to Chicago and she introduced me to my husband Jim Rose ( who also went to Southern). Thought maybe you may know him! I also know Amy and Dan and their daughter Claire! Kind of a small world, if you ask me!
Also, I can’t help but to read about another ‘Rose’ Family! Your boys are adorable!

Looks great Mandy. I bet even I could remember that after seeing it so many times in my living room from all of you Shakers.

I have 3 things to say right now…
1.) You have a better body now than you did in college and you may be the ONLY mom I know that can say that. You look smokin out there! Not fair 🙂
2.) Words can’t express how SAD I am that I was not there for this. I might have shed a little tear watching your video.
3.) Speaking of the video, I DID just do school song in my living room while wearing the alumni t-shirt I bought for homecoming! I can still do every single move. I can’t kick near as a high…but close enough 🙂 You better believe that my butt WILL BE THERE next year. Even if I have to come alone. Thanks for posting this girlfriend…miss and love ya!

I loved it. I was danceline captain in high school and just last weekend got to perform our fight song routine ( 20 years later) with a guy we graduated with who still knew the whole thing. It was hilarious. He said he spent more time watching the danceline than the football team. LOL – I loved your video….made me want to get up and do it too.
