We made a trip to Charlotte last weekend to visit Natalie and the Happy Mommy Box headquarters. It’s hard to fathom that we started this box business ONE YEAR ago.
It seems even crazier to think that an encounter at a blog conference in Dallas about 18 months ago would have turned into something that has truly changed my life.
For those of you who don’t know, I met Natalie at Blissdom (a blog conference) back in March of 2013. I was drawn to her immediately. Almost like love at first sight, but more like friendship at first sight. Ha.
I always say it was a God thing because I don’t tend to open up to just anyone I meet. And I definitely would never imagine myself going into business with someone who I had known less than a year.
But for some reason Natalie was different for me. It was like we had been best friends our whole entire life. There was just such a connection that I felt to her…I can’t explain it.
Believe it or not, this trip to Charlotte marked only the 6th time we had actually been together in real life.
When I tell people that I have only been around her in person less than 10 times….I get very strange looks. Haha! I know it sounds crazy to other people, but it doesn’t seem crazy to me at all.
This is the third chance our kids have had to be around each other and I was blown away by how well they got along. I mean, I got some crazy boys on my hands and Natalie has some very girly girls. I did not envision those two things mixing well.
But I couldn’t have been more wrong. They genuinely had the best time together, playing and laughing, throwing balls at each other and dressing up in Elsa dresses. LOL! My boys loved it.
My kids tell me all the time how much they want a sister…. and when we left Charlotte that day Bents said to me:
“See mom, I told you girls are cool. I hope we get our sister soon so I can show her how to use tools.”

Oh the random things that four year olds think.
Our Happy Mommy Box office was overflowing with boxes. It was so fun to see with my own eyes.
My part of the company is brand outreach, marketing and doing the financial stuff so I don’t typically get to witness the actual boxes stacked up to the ceiling ready to be filled and shipped.
The kids were all about helping us work. Errrrr, making messes of our work.
Please note, if you are a Happy Mommy Box subscriber and your November box comes with marker on it? You’ll know why. LOL! They may have went a little crazy with the coloring.
But at least you’ll know they were packed with care, right?!?!
I’m just so thankful for Natalie, her family, Happy Mommy Box and everyone who inspires us to keep going. Some days it’s easy to want to quit.
But after seeing those hundreds of boxes sitting there waiting to be shipped out and meeting all the wonderful women who came to our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT…it was very encouraging and made me realize we have so many people supporting and believing in us.
To me, this business is more than sending out a box. It’s about lifting up other women and moms who need it. It’s about serving and sharing our hearts.
And, above all us, it’s about Jesus.
Our trip to Charlotte left me feeling refreshed, encouraged and yearning to do more. More of God’s good work.
Because ultimately, none of this is about me or Natalie or Happy Mommy Box. It’s not about what I can do.
It’s about what Jesus can do through me.
Until next time Charlotte.
