I figured since you have already heard about “The Bench“…that it was time to introduce you to the file cabinet.
Ahem.
Or should I call it the death cabinet.
At our old house we had this cabinet secured to the wall because it is heavy! I was always afraid that one of the boys would pull it over on themselves.
Unfortunately when we moved to the new house, we never anchored it to the wall. It was just one of those things that we forgot to do. Plus, when you are moving to a new house your list of “to do’s” is quite long. I didn’t think that anchoring the file cabinet to the wall was top priority.
Boy was I wrong.
Yesterday morning, right before we were about to walk out the door, Bents decided that he was going to give us a heart attack.
If you know Bents…mommy heart attacks are common by him.
And bright and early on Wednesday morning he decided that he wanted to open ALL the drawers in the file cabinet (which I thought was locked by the way). Do you know what happens when ALL the drawers are open at the same time?
You guessed it. It falls over.
Bad.
I heard J yelling “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” from the living room area and I seriously thought someone was dying! I sprinted as fast as I could from the bedroom to the office/living room area and saw a cute smiley little boy standing next to a large heavy toppled over file cabinet.
Somehow when it fell over, it just missed him. Can you tell by his non-concerned little grin?
The heart rate I had after this incident was enough to last all day. I seriously could NOT calm down.
I was so thankful that he didn’t get hurt. Honestly, I don’t know what would have happened if it would have fallen on him. I could have cared less about the broken glass picture frames and metal candle holders that were torn to pieces when it crashed. I was just BEYOND thankful that my baby boy didnt’ have a scratch!
As you can imagine, we called Papa over IMMEDIATELY to anchor the file cabinet to the wall. Remind me never again to put projects like that on the back burner.

So glad he is okay. My heart stopped just from reading. It is amazing what the little ones can do in about one second and to watch it unfold is like watching it happen in slow motion.
