I am telling you first hand that it is very confusing when you try to teach your 2 year old that peeing ANYWHERE is not okay.
Here are a few examples of what we faced when we were on vacation:
Yes, you can pee in our grass at home. No you may not pee off the balcony in to the grass at our condo.
Yes, you can pee in the ocean. No, you may not pee in the pool.
Yes, I realize that we let you pee in the landscaping by our pool. No, it is not appropriate to pee in the landscaping at the restaurant.
Yes, dropping your pants outside at HOME is ok. Dropping your pants in public is not.
That’s a whole lot of mixed signals for a toddler brain.
Wouldn’t-cha agree?
Apparently Bents was more than confused while we were on vacation and on numerous occasions could have been arrested for indecent exposure {if he were old enough}.
I can tell you this…he scared off a 75 year old woman on the beach by dropping his pants inches from her and peeing in the sand.
EEEEK!
I wanted to crawl in to a deep sand hole and DIE, but instead I turned my eyes in the opposite direction as if “I had no idea he was peeing right there ma’am! I’m so sorry.”
I pick my battles wisely. That was not one I was willing to fight.
My guess is that she never raised boys.

OMG! This is hilarious… And what’s wrong with a little boy dropping his pants and peeing in the sand? LOL… I say that woman was a prude!

Is it bad that it’s my daughter, teagan that likes to pop a squat on public? Geeeez! It’s cool with boys, not so much when it’s a girl:/

That’s hilarious. Let me tell you about ours.
We were at the county fair and it was 100 degrees out so our son was walking around with shorts, flip-flops and no shirt.
We stopped at this drink booth and ordered Margaritas. It was near a tractor display with a bunch of tractors parked all over the grass.
We turned away for a moment and soon everyone at this outdoor bar was pointing and laughing.
We turned to see what they were laughing at, and my son had dropped his shorts to the ground, no shirt on, and was peeing on a tractor tire.
What can you say?

I know this time will come for me in a couple years when Landon is potty trained, and I’m sure this was embarrassing for you, but I laughed when I read it! Just picturing a little boy running up to an old woman and peeing near her cracks me up! It IS a lot of mixed signals for a little kid to understand, but it sounds like you guys are doing your best to help him understand!

Did you see the news story about a Mom being fined for letting her 2 year old pee in public?! My MIL sent it to me… maybe she is trying to hint at me that I probably shouldn’t encourage my two year old to pee on the tire of the minivan when we are in public ๐ There are just some things you just have to have raised multiple boys to understand!

Yep, welcome to my life! Boys really are so much fun. Wouldn’t trade them for the world!

I remember my little brother always dropping his drawers in the middle of the front yard haha. Oh things to look forward to with our little boy.

I am sure Braden will kill me one day for sharing this, but when he was three I went to Gold’s Gym in Marion. One day I stopped in to pay my bill. I was just running in real quick so I just pulled the van up by the front doors, popped in to pay the bill while Braden waited in the van, and left. When I came back out, I noticed a big wet spot by the van door, but didn’t think anything of it. The next time I went into the gym, one of the owners told me how while I was in paying the bill, Braden opened the van door facing the BIG window where everybody looks out, dropped his pants, and peed on the parking lot from inside the van. He told me this while gasping for air because he was laughing so hard. I was horrified!

Oh my goodness I can relate ! I have 3 boys and went through the exact thing thing!!!!

LOL, this is what I have to look forward too, huh?!

LOL. Your kiddos just make my day. Hahahahaha, you are such a great mom, Mandy. ๐ My mom has ALWAYS told us just that… “Choose your battles wisely.” Hope you’re having a splendid weekend. ๐

This is hilarious and SO TRUE! I can totally see how this can be confusing for any kid! Thanks for the warning as I will have to be extra careful where I let Rhys pee once we start potty training. Thanks for the giggle!!!
Molly says
So true! Cooper dropped his pants before peeing in the ocean at the beach. Guess when I said, yes, you can pee in the ocean, he was just trying to do the right thing. ๐
Btw, I think those are some smoking abs I see peeking out from the bottom of that pic! Hot mama!
