It seems like I am not sure if I am going or coming these days. It’s amazing how summer always seems to creep up on me and then WHAM…it flys right by.
I have about 3 million things I want to blog about, including our wonderful trip to Pittsburgh to visit Natalie and her family {and the big basement reveal}. Plus our zip lining experience and our recent Dave Matthews Band concert…but I need MORE time in a day.
Do you ever feel like that?
We’ve been spending time outside by the pool with neighbor boys.
But even our pool isn’t getting as much attention as it usually does. Our days are consumed with baseball and church and birthday parties and {fill in the blank}.
I guess this is the part of life that everyone warned me about…the part where you get too busy to enjoy your kids being so little. I try to remind myself of that on a daily basis. It’s important to have fun, be involved in sports and celebrate your friend’s birthdays…but it’s also important to enjoy your time together as a family.
So we are being cautious about what we add to our schedule from here on out!
Except for mowing. Because, come on, someone’s gotta mow this yard.
It’s been milestone after milestone with our P Man. First it was loosing a tooth and now he’s learning to ride his bike with no training wheels.
It about kills me to have to sit back and watch especially when you know he’s gonna fall. We tried to get him to wear knee pads…but trust me…we were just thankful he agreed to the helmet and shoes.
Yes, he normally likes to bike ride bare foot and helmet-less. But this momma wasn’t about to take any ER trips in the near future.
He agreed to the helmet and even insisted on the shoes…but knee pads? He said his “knees are tough”.
Ahem.
He does really good for a few seconds, but he is just like his Poppy…not very patient. So…when he doesn’t get going right away he gets pretty angry. And then he throws his helmet and kicks his bike.
I’ve never seen him be so frustrated. It’s not funny, but it is. We are trying to teach him that it will take time…but apparently when you are five…your brain does not comprehend the skill to wait.
Oh heck, I don’t have that skill even at 32.
I captured some pretty good footage of him right after he failed for the last time the other night. You know when you say “I wish I would have got that on camera!”…well…this was one of those moments where the camera was rolling and I am so glad it was.
{must watch short video}
So you see, at sixteen we won’t even need to buy him a car. He’ll just be rolling the streets on his bike with no training wheels. Finally.
Bents is super satisfied with his tricycle for now. He thinks he’s a race car driver except the tricycle is probably the slowest moving bike we own {and we own almost a dozen}.
But as a mom who doesn’t like danger…I’m cool with that.
Another thing I keep talking about? My new site design and switch to Genesis. Did y’all think I had given up on it?
It’s definitely taken a lot longer than I had planned, but the good news is…it should be live by the end of this week. I’m excited, but nervous because I want y’all to like it. It’s not a complete rebrand because I am keeping the theme of the roses, but it’s definitely much different than my current site.
There’s been a lot of back and forth with my coder to make sure it is exactly how I want it…and he’s been great about taking my ideas and making them happen.
Here’a a little sneak peek at my new bio:
If all goes as planned…the new design should be up and running by Friday.
Alright, I’m off to get my Pittsburgh pictures edited so I can share about our trip.
Natalie and I filmed 2 videos while we were together as well {and I can’t wait to post them}.
Check out what she left at the hotel front desk when we arrived…
The sweetest!
She even included our Dollars and Roses logo on the “do not disturb” printable door hanger. How awesome is she?!
I’ll leave you with this photo from my Instagram…because really…I never want to forget when he did this…
“My rule is: I better not see you in our room in the middle of the night. Apparently I need to tweak that wording.”
Did I mention we are hosting 4 college girls this week while they are in town for our church conference? Ooohh buddy, it’s gonna be fun! Please pray that my kids behave and our guests don’t leave here thinking our parenting skills are lacking.
What’s been going on with you? Is your summer flying by as fast as mine?

I completely agree with you! Sometimes, we need to stop and enjoy our young kiddos without being too scheduled. Well said mama!

Perhaps it is because I don’t have boys, or maybe because yours resemble what mine would probably look like if I did have them, but I get such a kick out of your kids. Your family seems to have lots of fun, like ours. We have one daughter – girly as they come – but we sure do laugh a lot. What a blessing to have a fun family. Thanks for the great posts. I can’t wait to see the new design! Susan

Oh my goodness Mandy I am cracking up from the video. Love his comment!! My 4 year old watched it and asked “why is he grumpy?”. Lol

Loved reading this & catching up with you guys! I feel the same way about summer–it’s been way to busy and we haven’t rested at all. So we’ll all have to be really picky about what we schedule from now on!
Can’t wait to see the blog re-design!

It’s nice sometimes to see other’s moms lives as crazy as ours. We just go, go, go.
I know it’s hard to watch the little ones falling, I actually hid in the house while my husband taught him and came out to see the big finale. I could only handle so much, I kind of cheated 🙂

I don’t even have kids yet and feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day, I don’t know how you do all of it!
I can’t wait to check out the new design on Friday. I don’t have anything to compare it to, but as a novice, I found Genesis really easy to use for the most part. The support staff and my designer have been SO helpful.

Oh wow, you are incredibly busy! I couldn’t agree more about taking time to enjoy the time with your kids. I feel like time has been flying by lately and we too have been way to busy. I can’t wait to slow down 🙂
Love the pictures! That last one is too adorable!!
