You guys, I can hardly contain my happiness today!
As you may or may not know, we unexpectedly had to take Nella back to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital this week to have an MRI. That’s not the part I have happiness over, by the way. Haha!
If you need caught up on what’s been going on with her health you can read here. Since I wrote that previous update, we got a second opinion at Vanderbilt and have been extremely happy with the doctors and staff there.
Long story short, we had a few more tests ran at Vanderbilt and some came back normal while others came back abnormal.
To be safe, the doctor felt it would be best to do a sedated MRI to check for any tumor or mass on her brain or pituitary.
As you can tell, she was skeptical. 🙂
I was also slightly freaking out about her being sedated. Almost every question they asked had to do with her medical history or the medical history of her family.
They kept asking, “Does she have a history of (fill in the blank)?”
“Do you know if (fill in the blank) runs in the family?”
I kept repeating, “Not that I know of.”
And that’s the part that frightened me. I genuinely have no idea of the medical history of her biological parents.
But we knew this test was something we had to do so we could either rule out the fact there could be something on her brain or deal with it.
We didn’t get to go back to anesthesia with her, but the anesthesiologist and MRI tech both talked to us for a good 30 minutes and made us feel extremely comfortable that Nella would be in good hands.
They distracted her with bubbles and we waved goodbye as they walked her down the hall to the MRI room.
The test lasted about an hour and a half and if you ask my husband, he will tell you that I was more anxious during that hour and a half than when we actually met her for the first time in the Philippines.
Of course, he was Mr. Calm Pants. Per usual.
She did awesome through the MRI and we were able to go back right away once she was in recovery. I could tell by the look on her face that she was scared, but so happy to see us.
I have been stressing big time about what the results of the tests would show and praying like crazy that her scans would be CLEAR!
I also felt relief to know that we will at least have an answer of some sort. Up until this point, everything has been one big question mark, which has been the hardest part. Not knowing.
But FRIENDS, her test results came back and they were…
I have to say that over and over because it feels so relieving!
Her doctor is out of town so we haven’t had a chance to talk, but she had the office call me (to calm my fears) and let me know her results are normal and we will chat next week about a new plan!
Thank you for praying for Nella! Praise Jesus that He hears our prayers and works in wonderful ways!
