{Our Adoption} A Father To The Fatherless

We are in the “2 week wait” period. The time from when we sent off our dossier to the Philippines to the time we WAIT and hear that they have received it.

I only call it the “2 week wait” because it’s suppose to take approximately 2 weeks to hear back.

This is week two and I am hoping to hear that it’s been received by Thursday.

A friend of mine who is also adopting shared this video with me last week. This song was written for a little girl adopted from China {her Uncle wrote it}.

I cried throughout the entire song just seeing the faces of these children. I couldn’t help but envision our own child. Soon to be child.

In need. Hurting. Without love.

I wondered…

Who’s taking care of them?

Who’s making sure they are fed?

Is anyone reading them books?

Who’s tucking them in at night?

A flood of emotion hit me as I realized that, although they may be lacking the normal life that you and I know, they are still loved by Him. He knows their name.

He is watching over them when no one else is.

It gave me comfort in knowing that His love is enough.

I can not wait until the day we can board the plane to the Philippines and, more importantly, for the moment I get to wrap my arms around our new child. But, until then, whether our child is born yet or not, I have faith that God is providing. I find peace in that alone.

Lyrics to the song in the video:

He heals the broken Hearted
He binds their wounds
He is Love

He finds those forgotten
Those who have been abused
He is Love

He knows your name

A Father to the fatherless
A healer of the brokeness You make
Beauty from the ashes
A Helper to the helpless
A fighter for the hopeless You Love
Those who are alone

He comforts the lonely
He hears their Cry
He is Love

He holds the children
Through out the night
He is Love

He knows your name

A Father to the fatherless
A healer of the brokeness You make
Beauty from the ashes
A Helper to the helpless
A fighter for the hopeless You Love
Those who are alone

Gives us Your Heart Lord help us Love the unseen
And give us Your Eyes Lord help us Love those in need

A father to the fatherless…is God in his holy dwelling. {Psalm 68:5}

Praying for peace during your wait. God’s will is perfect, but not always easy.

Hi Mandy. This post touched me quite deeply. I spent a month this last summer volunteering at an orphanage caring for babies and thinking of their future mothers the entire time. I wrote a blog post basically as a response to your questions above (I hope you don’t mind me quoting you). I hope and pray it will encourage all adoptive parents in the waiting process. Please note, I am not a prolific blogger by any means, but writing is worship to God for me. Anyway, Here is the post: http://beckyrosty.wordpress.com/2012/11/27/who-gives-snuggles-while-you-wait-to-adopt/

Awww, what an amazing story you told! I, too, would love to travel to an orphanage one day and be the hands and feet of Jesus. I truly love this post and the reassurance it gives me as I am waiting to be the mom to a wonderful new child. Great work! God bless you for the wonderful things you did and are doing!

Mandy – we met YEARS ago through Kerri Donnelson and Monte Kuhnert. My husband, Bruce and I now live in FL. I found your blog a while ago and check in from time to time – helps me feel “connected” to So. IL. Anyway…my brother adopted two children about 12 years ago from Russia. My niece and nephew are now almost 15 years old. I still remember how long just a few months felt while our family waited for them.

You and your family are in my prayers as you continue to follow God’s plan! If you ever make it to the Tampa or Orlando area, let me know!

Hi Debbi! Sorry for the extremely delayed response! I somehow missed this comment until just now. I do remember you! So nice that you left a comment and thank you so much for the prayers! We are actually going to FL this weekend for a wedding, but we will be in Jacksonville. :)
