This weekend I am attending FINCON {Financial Blogger Conference}. I do realize that I am not a financial blogger. Luckily I’m married to one because FINCON…is the most dorkiest fun I have ever had in my life. True story.
I know what you are thinking…”Finance conference? Really, Mandy? Like that could be fun.”
But, I swear to you I attended last year with my husband and met some of the most amazing people! I had no idea that finance bloggers knew how to have so much fun {sorry}. Not to mention that we started a “wives club”.
So, just in case you are popping by from FINCON I thought it would be fun to put upย “10 Things You Don’t Know About Mandy Rose”.
1. My wedding dress was not white.
*Gasp*
Yes, I wore a PINK wedding dress and it’s the single most asked question I get regarding our wedding photos…“Is your dress pink?”
Well, last time I checked white has never been mistaken for pink. Maybe for off-white or cream or maybe even tan {that’s a stretch}, but never for pink. So yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, my wedding dress was pink.
I like to be different.
2. I’ve been married twice. To the same man.
My husband and I originally got married in 2004 in Las Vegas! No we did not meet each other 2 days prior. ๐
We had been dating for over 2 years and had just recently got engaged when we found out he was being deployed to Iraq. We decided that we wanted to go ahead and get married before he left, so we did. We did it in Las Vegas because that’s where his mom lives {and let’s be honest, it’s pretty easy to get married in Vegas}. Yes, we eloped!
Once he returned from his tour of duty we had a real wedding with all of our family and friends. See, I told you, married the same man twice. And couldn’t feel luckier!
3. I was once shoulder to shoulder with Brett Favre and I could have reached over and kissed his cheek.
But I didn’t. That would have been AWKWARD. And I probably would have been arrested.
I have been a dancer my whole life…tap, jaz, ballet, toe, etc. When I was in high school I had the opportunity to dance at half-time at the Super Bowl. It was probably one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had.
The whole “I got to see Brett Favre” thing was just an added bonus. I mean what teenage girl didn’t love Brett Favre in 1998? Yea.
All I could find was a picture of me from my college dance team days so that is what I chose. Those college dance team days were a pretty close second to nearly kissing Brett Favre.
4. My kids look nothing like me.
I have absolutely no idea why I am acting like this is something you didn’t know.
5. I do not do anything adventurous.
Ride roller coasters. Sky dive. Hike mountains. Sleep in the wilderness.
But, one day about 2 months ago I did do a canon ball in to the pond behind our house. I was dared. But, nonetheless…I did it and for a millisecond {literally that’s about how long I was in the pond} I was adventurous and it felt good.
6. ย I have always been a rule follower.
My whole life. Even at the ripe old age of five…I liked to follow rules. It doesn’t mean I hate non-rule followers. I actually really like them because I know I could never be them. I just prefer to follow the straight and narrow.
I realize that also makes me boring. Good thing Jeff Rose is the farthest thing from boring.
7. In my next life I want to be an interior decorator.
I sometimes pretend that I am a diy/decor blogger. I’m guilty, I am. But I have this hidden love for all things home decor.
Whether it’s my master bedroom, my dining room, a nursery, a big boy room, a bathroom, my kitchen, or my fireplace makeover…I love to decorate it all. I am very close to running out of rooms to decorate at my house, so beware friends. I am coming to your house next!
8. One year for halloween I dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz.
And don’t tell J I admitted this to you, but he dressed up as the Tin Man. Painted himself silver and all.
You know what else happened that halloween night? The Tin Man proposed to Dorothy and she said yes.
9. I got baptized at the age of 31.
I can’t imagine not having Jesus in my life and I often wonder how I made it 31 years without knowing Him. ย I am not perfect, I am not worthy, and it’s not that I am sinless…it’s just that my sins are saved my grace. What a humbling feeling.
All great things in my life are because of Him.
10. I’m a mom of four children…one whom we haven’t met yet.
We have three crazy little men who we could not possibly love more! Just because we thrive in chaos we decided that we wanted to add a fourth! No, I am not pregnant.
We are currently adopting from the Philippines and will hopefully welcome our child home in the next year or so!
So there you have it, 10 things you may or may not have known about Mandy Rose.

love this post! so fun! It’s always fun to find out new things about people. I had no idea about the weddings. So sweet that y’all went ahead and got married before he was deployed. Just proves you don’t need the big wedding to have it all! ๐

What wonderful things to learn about you! We have a lot in common – I too have been a dancer my whole life. And my son doesn’t look like me either – though we both thought he would because, as you know, those Asian genes can be so strong! I am (mostly) a rule follower too – and you and I are far from boring!!
I haven’t done it yet but I too will be baptized as an adult. What an amazing gift to have found Him!
And I love that your Halloween costumes and proposal – you guys are (still!) so cute!
Kala says
From following your blog for the last couple months, I’d like to disagree with the fact that you’re boring – or at least you’re a good writer who doesn’t seem so boring ๐ Great post!
Jen says
Ha! First, I totally remember your Wizard of Oz costumes. Second, I STILL can’t believe you jumped in that pond. And 3. I love that picture of the 3 of us so much…but those tights. THOSE TIGHTS!!! Gah!!

I love the pink wedding dress! I didn’t have the guts to do anything more than a colored (champagne) sash ๐ I also think it’s cute that you guys got married twice and it makes a lot of sense since your husband was getting deployed.
Once we move, you’re welcome to come decorate my entire house!
I am a huge rule follower as well and not adventurous at all. I’m a chicken when it come to almost everything.

Ok, I feel like a complete dummy that I didn’t realize your dress was actually pink! I remember looking at your pictures around your house and thinking those pictures had the editing where you just highlighted certain colors in the picture that made it look pink. And BTW, if you’re looking for a few more rooms to decorate PLEASE come to my house!! Haha!! {But seriously.} ๐

Great post! It’s nice finding out new things about bloggers. I love that you say you aren’t adventurous and had a pink wedding dress! ๐ That’s great! I’m also a boring, non-adventurous person!
Meagan says
I loved this! I’m so jealous of your pink wedding dress! I danced in college too. Not like football saw Brett Favre but on a stage and choreographed a dance. I’m also a rule follower. Like freak out when my fil wants to take my baby down the street in a golf cart. He needs a carseat hello! Bring your whole adorable family and decorate my house!! It would be so much fun!
Dana @ This Silly Girl's Life says

First time here. Regarding #9 – Wow. This gives me hope for my prodigal 24-year-old son. It’s never too late, is it?

I have said this before, but I think SJ looks more like you than P and Bents. I love the Wizard of Oz costumes because that’s my favorite movie. I have a Dorothy costume that my mom made me in seventh grade that I may still be able to wear 16 years later.
Laurie says
I do believe this is my favorite blog post from you! I shared with all my friends!

Hehe! Thanks! I just realized that I said I am a “rule follower” yet I totally went against the wearing white on your wedding day rule. LOL!

Haha! I loved this list…. AND, surprise, surprise…. I actually bought a PINK wedding dress too (very light pink with a darker shade on the bottom). I took it with me (destination wedding) to wear at the reception, but ended up just sticking w/ my white one because I too am a rule follower and didn’t want to break the “white on your wedding day” rule! hahahah!!!!
And — just saw the pics from the financial conference …. I swear, you guys are such a good looking couple!! And I LOVE Denver – used to travel there a lot for work!!
Becky says
ah! one of my favorite posts of all time!
