Sunday morning came and my friend Jenny, who was graciously keeping both the dogs overnight, and I headed out to see if we could find the owners of the dogs. We went back to the area where J and I had found them running in the street on Saturday night. Luckily, the second house we went to was the owner…of BOTH dogs!!
She was so relieved when I told her that the dogs were safe and we had both of them. She even hugged me and was teary. Unfortunately, the more she talked…we realized she was only teary about missing the jack russell, named Gracie. “Eagle” the beagle was not her favorite. And some of the things out of her mouth about him…were not so nice. She said he’s a very good dog, but he just stays out in the pen in the back and “is a waste of a pet”.
Yea.
I know. My jaw almost hit the concrete.
Luckily, Jenny chimed in and said, “Well, do you want us to bring the jack russell back and try and find a home for the beagle?” Of course, she said YES.
We were not about to leave the beagle with her after hearing her talk about him. She even said at one point, “Oh I wish he would have just got hit.”
GASP. *insert fist in the face.
So. Now we have a beagle that we REALLY need to find a good home! Jenny is kindly keeping him until we can find someone to take him. She already has 2 dogs of her own so she can not take a third. Although, because he’s so sweet, she’s been really tempted.
And with 2 young kids and a dog of my own (sometimes 2 when I keep my parents dog) there is no way I can keep him either. Here is a little blurp about him that Jenny put on a flyer:
He goes by the name of “Eagle” and his mommy doesn’t want him anymore. He is a sweet little guy (not neutered) and just wants to be loved on. He is really good with other dogs and would be best if you had other dogs (his mommy kept his sister). He can only see out of one eye but he still knows when you are near!
He is an older dog, but she couldn’t tell us how old. We have been calling him “Big E”…because really…who names a beagle “Eagle”??? haha! He truly is a lover. Let me know if there are any takers!!

awww this makes me so sad!!! That lady doesn’t deserve this cute dog so I’m glad she is not keeping him. It makes me so sad to hear this but thank you for searching for a good home for him. Sweet lil guy!!! I hope someone can take him. Please update us. I will be worried sick about him until then. 🙂

I’m also an animal lover and it truly breaks my heart to hear someone speak that way about a dog. I really wish I could help, but we have our hands full with our own doggy. I hope you find a good home for “Big E” and I think you’re doing a wonderful, selfless act by helping the little guy! Keep us updated!!

It makes me sad that she talked about her pet that way. Even if Big E was trouble for her she shouldn’t talk about him like that. I will post this on my facebook for people that I have that you might not have so they can see him. Keep us updated on him.

Oh geeze, good thing I don’t live near you. I would go egg that lady’s house… and car… and face. Grrr!
Unfortunately, this story is so familiar to me. I found my crazy (but awesome) border collie roaming the streets in late night scared out of his mind and in terrible shape… Long story short, I found the owner in the next few weeks and she didn’t want him back. She had already lost him three other times. He wasn’t chipped, no tags and wasn’t fixed. All big issues in my book. Ugh! So, here he is so sweetly sleeping at my feet as I type this.
Some PEOPLE!!! GRRR!!! Thank you and your friend for rescuing this poor little guy from a crazy mom!
