1. I love organization. Like L-O-V-E-I-T! Almost as much as I love fountain soda.
2. I have an amazing DAD that can create just about anything I have in mind.
Over the last week, I had him working on my “laundry room project”. I have been wanting to get organized in my laundry room since the day I moved in (which was almost a year ago by they way). But, so many other things took priority that I kept putting it on the back burner.
When I realized that I was going to be adding a third child’s laundry to my pile…I knew there could be no more procrastination.
So.
For Christmas, the only thing I wanted was for my dad to customize my laundry room for me. Don’t you love your Christmas wishes when you get older?
I told him my ideas and he drew it up on paper for me. A sketch – so that I could visualize what I was thinking. You know, sometimes what you are thinking is so not what you actually want when you see it on paper. It’s a good thing he can give me drawings so that I can picture what I am saying out loud. We went through a couple different ideas before we landed on the winner.
Then it was GET TO WORK.
Well, for him not me. All I had to do was buy the material. Which really I didn’t even have to buy it all because for Christmas he got me a Lowe’s gift card.
Kinda funny what he wrote in the note with the gift card. Here is what it said in the card:
To: Mandy
From: Mom & Dad
Merry Christmas
1.) Complete laundry room design
2.) Approve completed design
3.)Assist dad in buying materials
4.) Be patient!
5.) Praise dad for being so d*** good
6.) Think of next project
He knows I totally suck at #4.
Once we purchased the materials…I am pretty sure he finished the project in less than 48 hours. Good thing he sucks at #4 too.
Here he is creating the customized shelves!
The corner unit
This is what we started with. Yea. Nothing. Notta. Zilch. An empty…previously cluttered…laundry room.
And this my fellow bloggers…THE FINAL PRODUCT!
It’s extremely hard to get good pictures since the laundry room isn’t ginormous, but you get the idea.
We were originally going to paint the cabinets white and do natural colored trim, but when he was finished installing it…I loved the look of the all natural!
The only thing it’s missing is cabinet hardware. Which I just bought yesterday so my guess is…once I notify the pops…they will be on within minutes. He’s good like that.
Another GREAT job by my dad! Next up (and he did give me instructions on his card for “think of next project”)…the entry way bench and Bents bookshelves for his room.
Don’t worry. I have MANY more in mind after those two. It really does rock to have a talented father.

LOVE IT!!!!!!! I am so jealous of all that storage! Our laundry room is small and can will only fit cabinets above. Pops did a beautiful job!!! It does rock having a talented Daddy 🙂

Maybe your dad wants to have an adoptive daughter? 🙂 I can just imagine all of the cool projects he could help me with. Just kidding! You are so lucky to have such a talented daddy! I try to take on tasks by myself, and lets just say… I usually only get a chance to complete 1 out of every 3-4 that I take on. Your laundry room looks amazing! Now you will have everything organized for the 3 little ones & you and your husband.

Hey Mandy! I’m Mandy, and my dad builds all my furniture and ideas too! I’m not quite on the ball like you are. I just felt that crazy connection when I stumbled on your blog (through pinterest). I thought it was interesting the things we have in common. I’m also on the search for the perfect gray paint for my living room. Loving yours and already pinned it! Keep it up!
