For a very long time I refused to replace the family canvas that was hanging in my entryway.
It was old. Very very verrrrrry old.
As in, we were a family of three when the image was taken. See….
Not just a family of three, but Parker was a baby.
I kept telling myself that I didn’t want to order a new family canvas because our “new” child would be here soon and then it would be yet again, outdated.
I’ve been saying that now for 3 years. And unfortunately, we still don’t have that completed family canvas that I longed to hang there.
BUT, I finally decided it was time to replace the one of just the three of us.
It’s been almost a year since we did our family lifestyle photo shoot with Jamie Faulkner, but the pictures are still some of my all-time favorite images. I love pictures that capture our family in REAL moments.
She did just that in this image, above, of the FIVE of us.
Another front entryway item on my agenda to change was my chandelier.
When we first built our home back in 2010, lighting was one thing that I didn’t put too much thought into.
Honestly, after making nine thousand decisions about the kitchen? I was DONE when it came to lighting.
This orb…. I die. Seriously.
I think it fits perfectly.
You might find this funny (or annoying), but I took these pictures about 2 weeks ago and I have already switched out some wall art.
I swear – only if it’s opposite day – that I don’t have decorating A.D.D.
Some people tell me that I only redecorate things so I can have blog content. But listen, I’ve redecorated my office 3 times and not once, have I posted the new pics.
I redecorate things because it’s my therapy.
With three boys, I need lots of therapy. Errrrr decorating.
I can’t wait to have Jamie Faulkner come back and take photos of our family when we are a family of six.
But until then, this will be the interim canvas. That’s what I’m naming it.

Hi Mandy!
We’re in a holding pattern, too, waiting for this adoption from the Philippines to happen – so I hear ya. I am a little discouraged knowing that you’ve been waiting for 3 years now and your family is part Filipino…I heard it is supposed to go faster for you guys! You know though, now that you’ve committed to that canvas, you’ll get matched. ๐

What? You have switched you office 3 times with no pics? I feel so cheated ๐ Post ’em baby! For the haters saying you redecorate for content…ummmm so what if you did? If that is what your readers LOVE (and we do) then give the people what they want. LOL

I think it looks great, and I understand why you waited!

Just discovered your blog and already am in love. Putting a fabric cork board on my to-do list along with decorating my front entryway. Thanks for the inspiration.

I’ve been looking at that same Orb light but could never decide what size. What size is your chandelier? Of course I love how it looks!

I really love that table. Where did you find it?

Mandy,
The light in your nitch, is that battery or wired? I want one in my nitch but was told that I could not wire electricity where mine is. Just wondering ๐

It’s wired.
