Last year I went on a scarf collecting spree. I literally bought a new scarf every where I went. This picture above is just a very tiny glimpse of the scarves I have in my closet. In fact, I think I need an entirely separate closet just for my scarves.
I truly believe that adding a scarf to ANY outfit can make such a huge difference. It’s quite like accessorizing…except, unlike necklaces, scarves actually serve a functional purpose too. They keep you warm.
Score!
Especially for someone like me, who is ALWAYS cold. If it was socially acceptable I’d probably wear scarves in the summer months too.
So, let’s take a look at six different looks that I put together that all involve…YOU GUESSED IT…a scarf!
6 Easy Ways to Wear a Scarf
Can I just say that when you wear a scarf ALL the time {like me} you definitely have to get more creative in the ways that you wear it.
Change up the way you tie it or you may get burned out quick on the whole scarf-obsession.
Look #1 – My Go To Scarf Style
This is one of the more “safe” looks that you can go with. You know, in case you like to keep it simple and all. I call it my “go-to” style because it’s my favorite way to wear it…one loop around the neck.
Scarf: Target
Navy Blue Shirt: Target
Look #2 – The Triple Knot
I’m loving the stripes and floral prints together. Just like it sounds “Triple Knot” means that I tied it in three knots.
Scarf: Old Navy
Striped Shirt: Ann Taylor Loft
Look #3 – Tuck it Through
Oh, my favorite grey, grey, and more grey. Did I tell you I am painting the entire basement grey. Ok, irrelevant, but still….I love putting light and dark grey together.
I’m wearing this “Tuck it Through” look by doing the loop around the neck and then tucking the ends underneath the loop.
Scarf: Old Navy
Shirt: Gap
Look #4 – Two Wraps
Another popular trend this season is putting together bold colors. This scarf is wrapped around twice and tied in the back {underneath my hair}.
Scarf: Hallmark {yes, the card store}
Shirt: J Crew Factory Outlet
Look #5 – Let it Flow
Taking it a notch up and adding three different patterns. I love the chaos! With all the patterns going on I decided to “Let it Flow” and not tie this scarf at all. Simple.
Scarf: TJ Maxx
Cardigan: Target
Tank: Old Navy
Look #6 – Through the Hole
This is one of my favorite scarves that I own. I think I love the brightness of it. I would probably wear this one with just about any shirt. All you need to do for the “Through the Hole” look is to fold your scarf in half, loop it around your neck, and then take the end through the center hole.
Scarf: Old Navy
Shirt: J Crew Factory Outlet
Did I mention I am frugal when it comes to my scarf buying? I think that is the only way I can justify having a gazillion in my closet.
Me to hubby: “I got them all on SALE!”
BAHAHAHA!
Stay tuned for the boy’s version of a scarf fashion show.
Talk about getting creative with how you wear them….
Ahem.

Thanks for the suggestions 🙂 I haven’t been very brave with patterns, so all of my scarves are solid colors. Maybe I’ll branch out a little with what is left of fall?!

I LOVE looks 2 and 3! Great ideas for keeping the scarf from looking too bulky. I always feel like I have an anaconda wrapped around my neck when I wear a scarf. I’ll have to try these out and see if I can’t overcome that issue!
