I’ve posted pics of SJ’s nursery before, but not since it’s been completely finished. And not since I”ve learned how to use my Canon T3i better. π
When you have 3 boys…trying to come up with another “boy themed” room is not easy.
I’ve done blue. I’ve done green. So I knew I wanted to do something more modern and light for SJ!
Who doesn’t love gray and white stripes? And elephants?
Gray Stripe Color: Benjamin Moore Gray Owl (OC-52)
Thanks to Tonya from Love of Family and Home I now have this lovely personalized birth announcement sign to match his room!
Most of the furniture in SJ’s room was hand-me-down. That’s what happens when you become baby #3.
This changing table has been through all three of the boys and it’s still going strong! I found those adorable wall elephants on clearance at Hobby Lobby!
This lovely piece of furniture…use to be mine in college. We did a quick little paint job on it and a hardware switch and voila…it’s like new!
All of the bedding was custom made from a family friend. I picked out my fabric on Fabric.com. It is a Michael Miller fabric called zoology and I just love the pop of teal!
Again, staying on the “hand-me-down” theme…we have the refurbished bookcase that almost went in the trash. I talked the hubby in to letting me keep it and paint it white. His trash is my treasure. π
The chair is my FAVORITE piece in my entire house. Literally.
It’s from PoshTotsΒ and it’s the Regal Loose in Opheila Dove…and it’s such a statement piece. Not to mention, comfy!
Another sweet sign with words that mean so much.
THIS IS THE START OF YOUR SWEET LITTLE STORY WHERE YOUR PAGE MEETS MINE NO MATTER WHERE YOUR TALE TAKES YOU OUR STORY WILL ALWAY READ LOVE
Ahhhhh! My heart melts when I read it!
Here is a view from the entrance of his room.
This mirror actually came on a dresser that I found on Craigslist and I had it stored for awhile. I really thought I would never find a use for it.
I added the custom monogram and I think it totally makes the entrance very elegant and welcoming. I can’t remember where exactly I ordered the monogram from, but it was somewhere on etsy.
Do you love or hate the curtains? It was the one piece in the room that my husband was like, “HUH??” He felt like he was being hypnotized. Hehe! I kinda like the extra funky fabric personally.
More elephant love…
…the boys actually like to pretend he’s a horse and ride him.
I also ordered these elephant vinyl prints for $5 on etsy {can not remember which shop} and then put them on picture frames. The background is just wrapping paper!
I will be sad when SJ grows up and wants a “big boy” room. I want to keep this room forever!

I love how the new baby room turned out. We are expecting our first in May and I have decieded on a gray, white and yellow theme. We don’t know what we are having yet so I’m staying neutral. Anyways I was thinking of doing gray and white strips and then a chalk board on one wall. You mentioned how hard it was to choose the perfect gray and that is the problem I’m having. The gray you choose is perfect would you mind please sharing the color with me? It would really help this stressed out pregnant girl out.
Thanks so much!
Mandy says
Hi Christy! Thanks so much! The paint color can be found here (in the post): http://houseofroseblog.com/nursery-ideas-gray-and-white/
Stephanie says
Is the gray used on the stripe wall the same gray on the other wall?? Doing same idea for our boys room π
Jessica says
Adorable!!! Did you paint the crib white too? If so, what type of paint did you use? I have a brown hand me down crib I want paint white, just not sure what is safe to use!

Hi Mandy,
LOVE the grey and white nursery. Can you tell me where you got the curtain fabric and if there is a name for it? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! I have had so many compliments on it! It was a good purchase! π

I have a question about the background color of the zoology fabric. Is it black or more navy? I can’t tell from the pictures. Thanks!
MamaBear says
The zoology fabric is charcoal (dark grey) background. I just bought some and I had the same question before it arrived. π
Margaret says
Hi! I am also doing an elephant themed nursery and I used the Zoology in Sea fabric by Michael Miller for the bedding, etc.! I love your son’s nursery! I was wondering where you got the big stuffed elephant that you said your boys like to ride as a horse? I would love to find one for my son’s nursery! Thank you!!
Mandy says
Hi Margaret! It’s Melissa & Doug…I think you can get it on Amazon. Mine was a gift, but she got it at a local store here that sells Melissa & Doug.
Ashley says
Very nice! I’ve been looking for a ceiling fan like that! Do you mind sharing where it was purchased? Or what brand it is?
Thanks!
Emily Denton says
I love love love this nursery….what fabric is in the inside of the bumper? Is that micheal miller as well or is that part of the zoology fabric. I just love that color against the gray and black. thank you
Emily
Emily Denton says
I also had another question, did the person who made your bumper make your sheets for the crib as well? I just really love the whole crib set and have yet to find anything close to it that I like. Would she be willing to make these things and ship if the price is right or does she just do it as a hobby???? Please excuse all my questions but I’m lost and only have 4 months left :/. Thanks for your help
MamaBear says
The fabrics for the bedding set are:
Michael Miller Baby Dumb Dot Charcoal (skirt)
Michael Miller Baby Zoology Sea (outside bumper)
and for the teal you might try either:
Kaufman Flannel Solid Aqua or
Michael Miller Cotton Couture Broadcloth Luna or
Michael Miller Cotton Couture Broadcloth Aqua or
Free Spirit Designer Solid Broadcloth Aqua or
Pure Organic Solid Aqua
I’m not sure what fabric it is but those would all work.
Looks like she used dark grey satin binding and satin ties for the bumper.
The curtains are:
Michael Miller Baby Feelin Groovy Charcoal
I have a bit of a Michael Miller obsession, so I LOVE what she did to make the bedding!!

Hi Mandy – love the nursery! The color scheme is similar to ours for our twin boys (now almost 6 months old). I was afraid the white would not be “manly” enough, but with the gray colors and blue (we accented with a smoky dark blue), some vintage toy cars and hot air balloons, it’s perfect! And like no other. I’ve really enjoyed reading through your blog today! π
Megan says
Love this nursery, just curious where the crib was from? I saw a similar one online at babysrus by babyletto but was interested in the quality!
Mandy says
Walmart! It’s not luxury, but I think it works just fine! The quality is very good for the price!
Charlotte says
hi could you tell me where u had your wallpaper from gray and white stripe

Love your nursery! Could you please tell me the name of your ceiling fan and where you purchased it. Thank you!
Mandy says
I’m not sure the name of it, but it came from Home Depot! π

I LOVE your sign that says “This is the start of your sweet little story. . . “, but I’ve looked at Sycamore Street Press, and as far as I could tell, they don’t let you change the color. Where did you get yours?
Mandy says
A friend made it for me…if you had a cricut machine, paint and some wood you could DIY it! π
Sarah says
Hey! I love your entire home and blog:) I saw that you listed the gray color you used for the stripes, is the other wall a different gray? Thanks, Sarah
Mandy says
The solid wall of grey is the same grey in the stripes.
Mandy says
Thank you for the compliments by the way! π
Sarah says
Hey, can you tell me the size of the elephant decals? Thank you, gorgeous room!!!!
Sarah
Mandy says
I am honestly not sure! The frame sizes are 16×20, 11×14 and 8×10 if that helps. π
Rochelle F says
I was wondering if you painted the walls or if it’s wallpaper? Thanks, Rochelle
Heather says
What is the name of the aqua fabric you used for the crib?
Chelsea says
Any chance you could give a quick review on the glider… How well did it hold up? We bought one from babies r us with our first and was very disappointed that only after a few months it really broke down. Hoping to find a sturdier- conifer replacement
Love your style!!
Mandy says
It’s still going strong many many years later. π It’s not the softest…more sturdy. But I love it! I don’t have a baby anymore but I use it in our bedroom now!
