I’m still scratching my head trying to figure out how the heck it’s already March. Anyone else feel like the first of the year just whizzed right by them? Lordy.
It seems like I’ve had all these projects in the works since the end of last year and I never get time to share them with y’all. So today I am slowing down so I can update you on all the “big ideas” that have been floating around in my brain. And yes, I have a brain. Just in case you thought I didn’t after watching our Harlem Shake video.
The Basement
The basement has {and still is} my main project of 2013. I told my husband about 3 months ago that we could just do a little bit at a time. Ahem.
He knows me too well and when I start a project…I almost NEVER have the patience to let it sit unfinished. We got carpet last week and it’s now a functioning new space in our home! What what!
We’ve had a Wii since we moved in to our house 3 years ago, but it’s never been hooked up. Until now. Oh yea, baby…I almost forgot I was the queen at Wii bowling. And did you notice Bents is moving in downstairs? He packed up his Spidey suitcase and said “C-ya” to his old room. Bahaha!
I know, smack me for the lack of pictures I have shared. Dirka! Even though the carpet is in there are still so many more projects to finish down there before I am ready to show you the big reveal. Plus, you know me…I have a few gallery walls up my sleeve that I have yet to conquer.
Here’s a little peak at what’s going on down there RIGHT NOW….
That would be a sketch of our new entertainment center area.
Typically it goes like this: my dad and I brainstorm on what I’m wanting…and then he draws something up that blows my mind. Yea, he’s fantastically talented. I can’t wait to show you the before and after of this project. He’s already 80% of the way done.
Dollars and Roses
In case you missed it…the Dollars and Roses team {aka the hubs and I} posted our January income report. It’s fun to document how our income has changed from last year at this time to now. My oh my how quickly things shall change in just one short year.
The majority of that income doesn’t come from this site…although I did have my highest month ever for House of Rose! I’ll make you click over to see just what that number was. ๐
And for those of you who have inquired…the hubs is working on a post about our blog expenses so that you can see how much money we reinvest back in to our sites. We don’t keep all of that $17,762.79…although that would be fun if we could. LOL! Think how many pair of shoes I could buy.
Our Podcast
The only thing I know about podcasts is that my husband makes me listen to Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income Podcast anytime we are on a car trip. At first, it was annoying {before I was a full time blogger}. But now that I have met Pat numerous times and am a huge fan…I have learned SOOOOOO much from his podcasts. He’s a pretty smart dude and has inspired us in many many ways.
So…the big news for Dollars and Roses? We are starting our own podcast! I can’t even tell you what that means just yet because I have no idea. Bahaha! But what I can say…is that we have our first guest lined up and I think y’all {at least my readers} are gonna flip!
Emily from Beauty Broadcast!!! She’s pretty much a celebrity in case you hadn’t heard of her. Ahem.ย
She only has 371,000 You Tube subscribers. Only. No big deal. In case your the only person on the planet that hasn’t heard of Beauty Broadcast…it’s a place where Emily shares her tips and love for makeup.
She quit her full time job as a news anchor a few months ago to pursue her You Tube channel full time and I think she will have so many amazing tips to share with us. She also lives in my town {lucky me} and we plan to do a podcast and video interview with her.
New Link Party
Last, but certainly not least, I am so excited to announce that starting NEXT Friday I will be co-hosting a weekly link party with Tonya, Liz, and Jennifer.
You may recognize them from the Dog Days of Winter link ups.
The four of us decided to join forces and host a party every Friday where you can inspire everyone by linking up your fantastic projects {diy, home decor, craft, recipe, etc}. This party will be an anything goes kinda party!
Just a quick reminder that Wednesday, March 6 will be the next Stop & Smell the Roses Vlog Link Up! Be there!

How exciting that your basement is almost finished. Can you send your dad down to light a fire here? Haha! We still need to put the heating ducts in out bedroom, plumbing, and then get the bathroom done. Someday!!! Love the new link up! I can’t wait for it! Also excited about the podcast with Emily! I love her vlogs and I loved watching her on the news when I lived in Illinois.

Could you please post a layout of your home office and details about the supplies similar to the entertainment center sketch above? Thank you as this will make someone feel very blessed.

Unfortunately I can not find that sketch! I know it’s somewhere, but I must have misplaced it. If I find it, I’ll post it!
