Ahem.
Hey, laundry is not my favorite past-time. If you have boys then you know that…clothes…are optional until you are five.
I try to keep my house fairly picked up and clean. You know, just in case you were to pop in and say hello. But, my kids? I can’t always promise you they are “visitor ready”. In fact, they will most likely need 3 minutes to throw on some pants.

We built our home in 2011 and ever since…I’ve had my dad working on a constant Pinterest project.
Lucky for us, he is free labor. I wouldn’t have been able to do HALF of the stuff in our home if it weren’t for his help.

The original design of our master bedroom was dark and dreary. I have lightened things up a bit since then.
It went from dark to light… see details for the white and bright here.
And then we got a new bed to go with the new bright white and it looks even brighter! LOL!

The latest big boy room is the sports themed bunk bed room.
The boys play musical beds so you never know which kid will be sleeping where. Haha! The other boys bedroom we have is set up to be a shared room as well.

I love you remodeled tv/fireplace area. We remodeled ours too and one of our concerns was our DVr unit and we created a place for it, but looking at ours I was wondering if you ever have problems with heat rolling up into the spot you created for your components and causing them to over heat? How do you shield the heat away from them?
Thank you! We don’t have an issue with the heat, but we also don’t stack any devices. We just have our Direct TV box in there and then behind the tv is an open (unfinished space) between the walls that has a door. We store our dvd player and other electronics in there on shelves and then have a wireless receiver that allows us to use the remotes with it.
Where did you get your bedding? That would work perfect in my master room! I can’t ever find anything I love, so I usually have my bedding custom made.

I thought I knew how to decorate, and then I saw your house. I was wrong. I love how much color you have in your home. So darling! I want to redo my bedroom, and use the same bedding you did. Can you tell me where you got your bedding? But our bedroom furniture is a dark mocha brown.. I’m thinking for the walls, I should probably go dark brown instead of grey? I see your bed is black, and the grey plays off it better. What do you think? Maybe I could do a lighter brown on the walls, with a dark brown accent wall, with a mocha bed, and use this bedding. Does that sound like that might match?

Unfortunately I got it over 8 yrs ago from Ashley Furniture. I am pretty sure they don’t have it anymore. Some people have mentioned that they found something similar from Pilgrim Furniture??? Not sure.

I love the look of your home. We are currently building right now and I am pulling my hair out looking for paint colors. You have me completely hooked on a chocolate color for our Great Room. Would you suggest just an accent wall in that chocolate color??? It bumps up against my kitchen….I think that will be yellow. (Behr Pyramid Gold) We want to do serene in our bedroom and master bath. So, we are thinking a gray bedroom and blueish bath??? You seem to be a fan of the Lamb’s Ear. It’s all over your house!!! I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for sharing your home!!!!
The chocolate brown is a very deep brown and I would suggest using it as an accent color only. It may make the room too dark if you did the entire room in it.

I just constantly pick up! 🙂 I hate to have things laying around so I make sure that every night before bed things are “picked up”. That way it never gets too out of control. You can really do anything with black appliances. I would probably keep the walls lighter and maybe go with white cabinets.

Which appliances are those (Oven/Micro Combo)? Do you like it? Debating on going that route in our new build. In theory it seems like it would work well for us but some people (who have never even used this set up) are discouraging us from going that route.
Yes, it is a oven on bottom and microwave on top. I absolutely LOVE it! Probably my favorite appliance! What was the reasoning behind the people discouraging it? I’m curious!
Hi Mandy, I mean to ask which brand as well. I think those discouraging it feel a full double oven would be more practical – which yes maybe 1 or 2 times a year. But if I think of my daily activities in the kitchen the combo makes the most sense to me, plus I’m looking forward to something different. We’re leaning towards Jenn-Air and their combo is a convection microwave which I feel I would use more than a traditional micro. I am glad to hear someone who has this set up does like it! It will be a while until I get my new kitchen – but I am excited.
