Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child…the cure all to sleep problems.
If that’s even possible.
If this book doesn’t work (like it claims)…I may cry.
No I will for sure cry.

I real your blog all the time but never comment (sorry) however, I had to just post because I read (when my kids were small & I was researching sleep books) that the AAP published a warning against this book, stating that it could lead to failure to thrive in babies. This book is kind of extreme (I read it) and it basically encourages parental neglect, and abandoning crying babies for prolonged periods of time to “sleep train” them. The issue is that babies can’t be sleep trained because sleep is like any other developmental issue and cannot be rushed or changed. I would suggest the Sleep Book by Dr. Sears.
I cracking up because I was up reading this book last night too. I’m still searching for the “here’s exactly how to fix it and what to do” part. Someone gave it to me with Logan. I’m thinking I should have been reading it then but I had the extremely colic kid they often talk about and had no time to read!!!! Mason is going to sleep boot camp in one week. We’ll see how it goes!!! Tough for both of us I’m sure. I’m going to try to put him to bed and not go to him until morning. that’s what I’ve gotten from it so far. But Bentley is still tiny!!! He has a way to go before you can be crazy! Logan was three before he got better, and he still wakes up and wants to come to my room! Hang in there.
This is the book I used with Addie when she was 9 months. Worked like a charm in only two nights! This book recommends waiting to cry it out until kids are closer to 6 months old so that they can cut out all night feedings and be okay. So…that is why I went in search of other options this time, since Blake is just shy of 5 months. But everything else I read followed a lot of the same rules as this book, so it looks like I am just going to go with it and hope that his one feeding I still need to give him a night moves closer to morning 🙂 Good luck my dear! P.S. The Extinction Method is the only way to go in my opinion. You’ll know what I mean when you start reading 🙂

I have that book. I feel your pain. Mine was a total sleep nightmare. I even went to a sleep specialist! He told me to let him cry it out. I was so mad!! I tried it, and it worked. For a few months! I am going nuts here too!

Hi Mandy. I follow your blog from Nat Fry’s blog. I actually went to high school with Jeff and my husband, Andy, and Jeff were good friends when they were young. I love reading your posts. Your boys are so adorable. Our daughter, Amelia, is 10.5 months old and our pediatrician specifically told us to let her cry it out. He said as long as four hours, even. I thought he was crazy, but after a week, she made it. It’s tough at first…our ped. recommended drinking lots of wine! I hope it gets better for you!
I lurk on your blog all the time and never post. This book is the book I buy every mom for their baby shower. So if you ask me, this book does solve all sleeping problems! I first read this when my son was an infant and by 8 weeks he was sleeping through the night. He is still an excellent sleeper. The key is to follow this book word for word. Good luck.
I feel your pain girl. My Brock didn’t sleep through the night until about 10 months. I also had to turn off the monitor and close to door and in about a week he realized we weren’t coming and started to sleep perfectly. He was a BIG baby too, so I felt bad because he would always want a bottle. But he did sleep and was fine!
