I am posting some updated pictures of our master bedroom. The previous post I had published had pictures of this room that I took with my iphone. I am getting quite a bit of Pinterest traffic from this master bedroom wall art project so I wanted to update the pictures with higher quality ones.
Perfectionist much? Nah!
I really had no idea so many people would love this project. In fact, I actually like my fireplace makeover better. Or even the gray and white nursery or the dining room.
But for some reason…people “love” this master bedroom wall art. No pun intended.
It was actually the cheapest of all the makeovers and it took me the least amount of time!
It’s always the ones that you think will draw the least amount of attention that surprise you, right?!
Less talking more pictures? Ok!
I believe that your bedroom should be a place for you to display pictures that represent “you and your spouse”. Sometimes we get so caught up in displaying pictures of our children that we lose sight of the what’s just as important…and that is your relationship with your husband {or wife}.
Our bedroom is the place where I enjoy being reminded of the amazing man I married and I love this 24×36 canvas that hangs on our wall.
And look…there is still room to showcase the kiddos too!
You will be able to find a source list at the bottom of the post for most things referenced in the room.
If you like what you see, you can scroll over the picture to PIN IT {I would greatly appreciate it}!
What are your favorite ways to decorate a master bedroom? Do you like warm colors on the walls or more bright colors?
**UPDATE! Bedroom Makeover is complete…check it out HERE.

I heart your color pallet big time. I’m in the middle of unpacking after the move and there isn’t one room “set” yet. Drives me crazy haha. Now every time I see something else pretty I want to change my original plan.
Naturally Caffeinated Family says
Ok, the turquoise bird in the tree art, love! Always beautiful, M! Great job on all of it!
Sonja says
I am so envious of your home! LOL It is so gorgeous! I wished you lived closer so you could re-do mine. And my closet. And my finances. Can I just hire you and move you here? haha!!
Looks amazing!! xo
Brandi Bankhead says
Love all of it! Took hubby to Ikea and he didn’t go for the duvet cover! Picked out a more masculine one then I would have chosen. I pinned a few pictures!

I would love to know the same thing!!

Kris says
I am in the process of copying your bedroom! Love love it!

Your wall is a little bit darker than ours. We have a light brown and blue color theme going on in our room. I love it.
Katie P says
I love your bedroom! I have black bedroom furniture and the same bedding you do:-) I love the pop of blue! and the framed Love sign…I have been looking for fun ideas for things on the walls…thanks for the beautiful post! Beautiful blog as well…I also have 3 boys that are very rarely “company ready” lol.
Lizz says
Just wondering what’s the bed frame called? I really like it
Jackie says
I love everything about your house. You joke how you need friends houe to help redo. Well, if you are ever in north florida, you are more than welcome to stop by and help me. I have painted our bdrm walls gray but have nothing to go with it and im just stuck with what/how to fix it.
sarah says
We have a similar take on the master bedroom. No kid pics in ours…but LOTS of pictures of the kids, dogs, family throughout the rest of the house. Cute!
Meagan says
I pinned! I wanted to paint the wal behind our bed a dark brown and Hubby thought it would look weird. Going to show him your bedroom!
Mandy says
Thanks for pinning girl!! Did hubby go for it? ๐
Dana @ This Silly Girl's Life says
Amazing, of course. I especially love the picture of the little birdie in the tree!
Lauren Kelly says
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kelly says
Hi Mandy!
I didnt think that my hubby would go for this…..I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT and was excited about it all day at the thought of re-doing my bedroom. I asked when he got home from work….BAM…loved it!
I found almost all of your wall art online ๐ What color is the frame that has the designs in the 2 openings and what size is the frame?
Thanks so much! GORGEOUS HOME ๐
Edythe says
Hey Mandy. Love this room. Just had my birdie canvas and love mirror delivered from hobby lobby! So excited. The black mirror I’d at target RIGHT NOW because I bought that last weekend. I’m going to hang a cross instead of the scrapbooking paper. Super excited! When I was in Target the corner shelves were there and on clearance(sorry I couldn’t wait for your Dad) ๐ so here is my question and i know its been asked before but with no response. Where did you get the giraffe print lamp? Saw it on Pier 1 but they don’t have it anymore. It’s my final touch and then I will have my dream bedroom. Keep doing what you do.. It’s so much fun!
Mandy says
Hey! Thanks so much and awesome that you have been able to recreate the look. I got the lamp at Pier I. ๐
Courtney says
The colors of your master bedroom actually look like a dark gray for the main wall and then a light gray for the rest of the walls. But then I see your paint colors say chocolate?? Such a shocker! I really liked the idea of the grays but it looks great anyways!! Does it look as gray in person as it does in the pictures??
Mandy says
It doesn’t look gray in person at all. It’s a deep chocolate brown color and the lighter walls are like a watered down chocolate milk. ๐ I do love grays too though!
Edythe says
So Mandy. I started my bedroom this morning and I have to say I love the wall behind my bed! The picture that I took and on your blog don’t do it any justice. They are BIG and absolutely gave me the WOW factor when I climbed down off of my bed to take a look. Thanks so much for the inspiration!!
Mandy says
Yay!! So glad it turned out so well!! Email me a pic! Mandyjrose(at)gmail(dot)com
Breanna says
Was just wondering where you got your bed frame and dresser?
Jessie says
Mandy,
I just love what you have done here to your bedroom. My family and I are recent flood victims from tropical storm Debby in Florida, so we have been in the process of remolding our home! I’m 20 now, still living at home and going to college, and needed a more sophisticated space now that I have a reason to redo my bedroom! I just LOVE this and am trying to create a very similar look!
I just have one question. Where did you get the blue and brown vase on the corner shelves? It just adds a nice splash of color (:
Rosalie says
Mandy… how long ago did you purchase that comforter!! I want it!!!
Mandy says
Awhile ago, but it’s still on their website! http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80208421/#/80207247
Lori says
Mandy,
I just love, love, love your paint colors, however when I view the Valspar Lambs Ear the color looks like it has pink undertones. Please tell me its just my monitor. I love brown rooms. Would a entire bedroom be too dark in all bittersweet chocolate in your opinion?
Mandy says
Hmmmm, the Lamb’s Ear has no pink undertones for me. It is almost like a spilled watered down chocolate milk. A very good neutral color. I would say doing an entire room in the Bittersweet Chocolate may be too dark?? Depends on how much light you have coming in the room. It’s a pretty dark color.
Lori Jensen says
Hi Mandy,
I have gotten 1 gallon of Sherwin Williams paint tinted to match the Bittersweet paint chip & went with 2 gallons of Sherwin Williams Mega Grege for my other walls, Hope it turns out as nice as yours did. My fingers are crossed.
Ali Shay says
I ordered this same “comforter”, but mine came as more of a thick sheet, is yours a comforter or the same as mine?
Mandy says
It’s a duvet cover not a comforter so yes it is probably the same as yours. I put my comforter (feather) inside of it.
Liz F says
Hey Mandy!
I love this duvet cover! I was wondering if you knew the name? The closet Ikea to me is two hours away. I want to call to make sure they gave but before I make the journey!
Your house is beautiful! You are do talented!!
Thanks!
Liz
Kelly says
Hi Mandy!
Can u share where the frame with fabric is from?
Thank you!!
Kelly
Liz F says
Mandy,
You are so talented!!! Love your whole house:). I was wondering if you knew the name of your duvet? It he closest IKEA is 2 hours away and I want to call before I make the trek!!!
Thanks so much!
Liz
Mandy says
Thanks Liz! You can find the exact duvet info here:

Hope that helps!
Lori says
I picked up a color sample of the Bittersweet & the Lambs Ear. I love the Bittersweet but I think the Lambs Ear is too pale a tone for what I’m looking for. Yours looks awesome though.
Jessica says
I found your blog through Pinterest & absolutely fell in love with your whole home. I will say I was a little disappointed though because the pictures made the walls look dark/light gray and then I read that they were brown tones. I have a black bedroom suit so I was wanting to replicate yours but im not sure it’ll go very well with the black now. Is your bedroom suit black or dark brown? It looks black but I’m not sure now lol.
Mandy says
My bedroom suit is suppose to be a deep expresso (brown), but in person…it literally looks black. I still have the brown tones in the room for wall color and I think it works fine with the black furniture. Hope that helps!
Becca says
My husband and I have been searching around for bedroom furniture (bed, dresser, night stand) we like and we can’t find any … we love yours. Where did you get your bedroom furniture from?
Mandy says
Unfortunately I got it over 8 yrs ago from Ashley Furniture. I am pretty sure they don’t have it anymore. Some people have mentioned that they found something similar from Pilgrim Furniture??? Not sure.
Kama says
Mandy,
I love your room so much, I’m totally copying everything! I can’t wait to start, went to Hobby Lobby and got the frame, love mirror and bird pic. ๐ The duvet cover just came in the mail today! My question, where did you get the bench ottoman at the foot of your bed?
Thanks!
Mandy says
Awesome! Glad you found everything! The ottoman was an item I got at Home Goods, but it was originally a different fabric and I reupholstered it.
Kama says
Thanks!! So ironic you got it at Home Goods. That store just had its grand opening TODAY in my town! I went there looking for an ottoman! How hard or easy was it for you to reupholster it? What type of fabric did you use, suede? Thanks again! Promise this is the last question! ๐
Katie says
LOVE your style! I just painted my bedroom these colors and it looks great. Do you have any suggestions for bathroom paint colors? I’m terrible at picking this stuff out myself. You ROCK!
Mandy says
Our bathrooms have pretty bold colors and, to be honest, I am wanting to re-do most of them. Haha! I like more of a calm soothing color for bathrooms. Visit LoveofFamilyandHome.net (she just posted about her bathroom and I love the color).
lynsey says
Is the picture above your bed on the far right with black print/tan print in a frame from hobby lobby as well?
Mandy says
Yes, I got the frame at Hobby Lobby and the openings are 8×10.
Sara Scarbrough says
Love your house!!!! The picture above your bed on the right, can you tell me what size the openings are? I thought I had read somewhere that you just put scrapbook paper in it, is that right?? Thanks so much!
Mandy says
Thank you! Yep, I just put scrapbook paper in the frames. The openings are 8×10.
Robin says
Hi..I found the love mirror at Hobby Lobby. What is the size frame and style around the love mirror? Thank you!!!! Love the bedroom..my walls are chocolate brown too and searching for something above my bed!
Robin says
What size frame and color did you buy for the love mirror? Thank u so much!!
Sara says
Hi Mandy!
Could you tell me how far above your dresser you hung the mirror and candle holders? Thanks!!
Mandy says
The bottom of the mirror is roughly 1 ft above the dresser and the candle holders are about 1.5 ft. Hope that helps!
Nicole says
Hi Mandy! LOVE LOVE LOVE your home! My husband & I have an older home and have started the hair pulling process of remodeling! I, too am using your home as inspiration! What’s funny is, I used to work at Pier 1 so I can spot their merchandise anywhere!! And when I saw your bedroom on Pinterest the first thing that caught my eye was your bedside lamp! I know they no longer carry it but I have a lamp base similar to that one & plan on recovering the shade in a giraffe print fabric I have found at Hobby Lobby. I also LOVE to change my mind or as you called it, have decorating ADD so I have decided to not paint a wall the chocolate brown. Instead I’m going to try something I pinned off of Pinterest and that is ironing fabric to the wall!?!?!!!!?????!!! I have NO IDEA if it is actually going to work but if it does it will be a whole lot easier to take down than having to paint!! I try to keep all my walls neutral since I seriously change my mind ALL THE TIME! Bless my husbands heart!! Anyways, just wanted to drop by and say “HI”! And show my support! Keep up the amazing job girl! Blessings!
Mandy says
Thanks so much for the support Nicole! I always appreciate compliments on my decorating (sometimes I am really insecure). LOL! Love the idea of ironing fabric to the wall. You will have to report back on how that goes!
Natasha Beckman says
Hi there! I absolutely LOVE how you’ve done your room! I am re-doing mine like yours in fact. I have found most things that I am looking for, but was wondering where the turquoise and brown or black? Vase on the top of your corner shelf on the left was from? And where did you find the round, dried things that you put into the vase? I just love that look and that is one of my favorite decorations you have. Thanks so much for the inspiration! I always envision these things, but not crafty enough to actually put it together!
Mandy says
Thanks Natasha! I got all of that stuff at Hobby Lobby! Hope that helps!
Laura says
I was wondering where did you get the black and turquoise vase on the left side of the room on the corner shelf. I absolutely love it!! ๐ thanks you!!
Mandy says
Hobby Lobby! ๐
lynsey says
I know people have been asking you where you got your lamp and when I have searched I think its not available online anywhere but I found an amazing lookalike at Cost plus World Market that you could always recommend. http://www.worldmarket.com/product/black-and-white-giraffe-flocked-accent-lamp-shade.do
Mandy says
Thanks so much for passing this along!

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS ROOM!!! I have printed the colors and all the ideas for this room to get ideas for mine.. You have done a WONDERFUL job,,,,

Is the Glidden Bittersweet Chocolate Duo or Premium?
M says
My husband and I close on our first home in two weeks, and you somehow captured exactly what I would love to do to the master bedroom. I love this makeover! Thanks so much for sharing!
Amadna says
I am just DYING to find out where you got that comforter / duvet cover?!
Mandy says
You can find the info here: https://houseofroseblog.com/master-bedroom-wall-makeover/
Lori says
Mandy,
Curious what kind of light exposure you have in your bedroom?. I see you have 2 windows & I only have one & mine’s facing the north of the house. I’d love to do all brown but my better judgement says only to use it only on the largest wall which faces the door way as you enter the room.
Thanks
pat says
just curious…how would it look to take the curtain rods up to the ceiling…im thinking it might draw the eye up..and make the rm look taller..add height interest….my room is almost identical…im just starting mine….thanks
Mandy says
I think that is a fabulous idea! In fact, if I could do mine over I would take them up to the ceiling too! Good luck!
Lindsay says
So like everyone else I love your master suite. I have hated mine for years ans found yours on pinterest, so I may just use the whole thing. ๐ wondering, what color you have for a bed skirt, or if you have one? I can’t quit tell in the picture. I don’t have a foot board so I mine will show. I would love to hear back. Thank you for your inspiration to get off my butt and make my room fab again. Ciao
Mandy says
Thank you Lindsay! I have a chocolate brown bed skirt. Good luck on your room makeover!!
Vanessa says
Yay! So glad you updated this post! I really love your colors and want to paint my room the same way since we have black furniture! Thank you!
Stefanie says
I love your bedroom! I have been looking at Calvin Klein duvets because they’re so soft. How does the quality of the Ikea duvet feel? Is it soft or is a pay for what you get kind of duvet?
Mandy says
I would definitely say that I am a “sheet snob” and I love soft sheets. After I washed it once it really is nice and soft. It’s probably not as soft as your Calvin Klein duvet.
Paige says
I absolutely love this room – I am using it as my inspiration as I’m getting ready to gut and redo my master!!! I am beyond excited! Well done!
