I’ve been a part of my own proposal before {obviously} and I’ve sobbed my eyes out watching YouTube videos of sweet proposals from strangers around the world. But to be present while two of your favorite people in the entire universe profess their love to one another in the middle of a daffodil field????
The single sweetest moment I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime.
Not taking away from the sweet moments I have experienced with Jeff Rose, because there have been plenty, but this was a beautiful moment I’ll never forget.
It began on a Wednesday afternoon when I accompanied my best friend’s boyfriend to check out different location choices.
I’m not sure I humored him with my “Heyyyyy” face request… but he knows me well and he knows I needed to capture the moment. Ha.
He had 2 different places in mind, but as soon as he took me to this field of daffodils I knew we shall look no further.
It was perfect. And I know my best friend well…she can appreciate a field of gorgeous flowers like no other. Especially because she’s a photographer. Speaking of photography, I thought I was just going to help him scope out the perfect proposal location. Never in my wildest dreams did I envision him asking me to BE THERE, in the moment, to take pictures of it all on the big day.
I can not even tell you how honored {and nervous} I felt. I mean, ME? I’m no professional and being asked to take pictures for someone who IS a professional photographer was a little bit intimidating. But he said this to me…
“I know you would be the first person she would want to share this moment with so it only makes sense to have you there doing the pictures.”
I’m not even gonna lie. When he left my house that day after asking me that… I cried. Like big giant happy tears of joy. One, because my best friend was about to get engaged. And two, her man just entrusted me to share in this moment with them.
I barely slept that night in anticipation for what the next day would bring… THE BIG PROPOSAL!
So yes, picture this… a field of gorgeous daffodils, a sunny 70 degree day, the most beautiful ring you’ve ever laid eyes on and a man pouring his heart out to you while it’s all captured on camera…
DOES IT GET ANY BETTER?
Watching him get down on one knee while she looked at him in shock of what was about to happen made me start crying. And I assure you that trying to take professional photos while you have tears welling up in your eyes is a difficult task. But I couldn’t help myself.
These two are the definition of being in love. Since the day they met… they have had something really special.
I feel so blessed that I got to be there and share in this special moment with them. After he proposed they took a few minutes to embrace. To kiss. To dwell in the moment together.
I didn’t want to get too close at first because I wanted them to have some time to themselves, but shortly after she said yes we were able to congratulate them and take some more pictures.
And obsess over her newly bling’d out finger. Y’all… the ring is amazing. I love that they chose a non-traditional engagement ring. A yellow sapphire stone surrounded by diamonds.
Just about 6 days after she was sporting her new ring… Jenny McCarthy was all over the news with her new engagement ring. Guess what it looked like?
Katie and I had a good laugh about how Jenny was most definitely being a copy cat. I mean, Katie did have hers first. Hehe!
But what great taste Jenny has!
I am so blessed to have been a part of this special day.
I can’t wait to watch these two get married. THANK YOU KATIE AND RYAN for allowing me to be a part of something so amazing.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this post and you! I cried again just reading it! It was such a special, emotional, and long awaited moment. Ryan was of course right, you were the first person I wanted to see and to share that moment with! You have been there for me to share in my happy times and been there for me when all I needed was someone to hold me while I cried and tell me everything’s going to be okay. You’ve been my therapist, my guardian angel, but above all, the sister I never had. I can never replay you for ALL you have done for me (and Ryan) but I can sure try to return all the love and happiness you’ve brought to my life! You are one special girl!!!
You have been all of those things to me and more! I’m so thankful (EVERY DAY) for you!! So blessed to have been a part of this special moment and can’t wait to start wedding planning!! Woot woot!!

Awesome job on pics Mandy!!! I love watching proposal videos. I love the ring!!!! I have a round yellow sapphire w a halo of diamonds around it and on the band.
I had always wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride and my husband set up a surprise ride w a proposal of course 🙂 with a hidden photographer.
I guess I had no idea how popular this engagement ring style was becoming!! I love it! And yes on the hot air balloon ride…I’m coming with you. Wait, that wouldn’t be romantic would it?! Haha!

My husband surprised me at work because he knew he wouldn’t be able to get the surprise pass me by in any other way. Because I work in a secured building, he had worked with a friend and coworker to set up the entire plan and had ran everything by my boss. It was special, just like every girl dreams for.
