How can I not wanna just squeeze that lil guy every morning when I go to get him from his bed? I mean, last time I checked, the only person as happy to see me as P is in the am is my hubby when I wear lingerie….and let’s be real….wouldn’t you rather get some love from doing nothing than from having to do a little “flashy flash”?
On the topic of baby beds, I have been wondering when is a good time to switch from a crib to a big boy bed???? I have read that, depending on the child, it usually happens between the ages of 1 1/2 and 3. Really? So, this means that my little P man could possibly be getting a big boy bed in the near future. I’m not going to rush it though. Personally, I like the fact that the crib is confining. My lil guy is not one to sit still unless he has no other choice, even when he is dead tired. So I am thinking a big boy bed would be a joke at this point.
I read some good tips for when you do decide to transition to the big bed….
- Install a child safety lock
- Make a “Sleep Rules” board with your child. Decorate it together and name it “Parker’s (your childs) Sleep Rules” and then post it above the bed. Go over and over the rules until your toddler has committed it to memory.
- Make a rewards chart for staying in bed and having a good “happy nappy.” The goal is to earn enough stickers for a “special surprise”.
An example of some Sleep Rules are, 1) Stay in bed, 2) Put your heady down, 3) Close your eyes, and 4) Shhhh…be quiet.
Anyone else have any suggestions?

He’s darling, I love kids!! (obviously)
I would wait for the big boy bed until he’s literally climbing out of his crib…it’s not fun trying to train them to a big kid bed. I’m not saying it’s that crazy difficult, but the crib is so much easier. Wait honey until he is climbing out and then it’s a safety issue.

I also would wait until he tries climbing out. If he doesnt climb, you know where he is at night at that he is safe. When (or if) he starts climbing out, then you have to worry he could get hurt. I bought one of the small beds that uses the crib mattress as a transition bed. If he falls out of bed, the bed is lower to the ground so the won’t fall as far.

I guess it depends really….I think as long as he doesn’t try to climb out, and he seems generally happy in it – leave him there for a while. They grow so fast as it is.

me and someone was just discussing this issue and we’re saying we would switch our little ones when they started climbing out!!…..lol! i think it’s comforting and as long as they’re not climbing out of it…..why mess up a good thing!!!

Well, as I remember it, the reson you don’t have any siblings, is you kept sleeping with your Mom and dad once they took you out of the crib. So if you don’t care to have any more kids, take him out now. If you want more kids Keep him contained till he is 8. Ha Ha. love ya Mando.
