Welcome to our lovely home where we constantly have naked children running around.
Ahem.
Hey, laundry is not my favorite past-time. If you have boys then you know that…clothes…are optional until you are five.
I try to keep my house fairly picked up and clean. You know, just in case you were to pop in and say hello. But, my kids? I can’t always promise you they are “visitor ready”. In fact, they will most likely need 3 minutes to throw on some pants.

We built our home in 2011 and ever since…I’ve had my dad working on a constant Pinterest project.
Lucky for us, he is free labor. I wouldn’t have been able to do HALF of the stuff in our home if it weren’t for his help.
If you are curious as to where I got something please click on the links under each room and it will take you to a page dedicated to that specific room (and a source list will be at the end of each post).
Some of the new room makeovers do not have source lists yet (but are coming soon)!
– Exterior –
– Bathroom –
Sorry to start with the bathroom, but we just re-did our hallway bathroom with subway tile and marble floors. I am in love.
Post coming soon.
– Dining Room –
I have updated this dining room about 900 times. The latest look…
The old dining room looked like this…
– Kitchen –
To see more pictures of my kitchen check out my modern kitchen post.
– Powder Room –

– Teen Girl Bedroom –
See the entire room and details here.
– Entryway –
Post coming soon.
See more back door entryway way details.
– Home Office –
See the full work from home office space details.
– Living Room –
Our living room gallery wall is ever evolving, but here is the post on the EXPLORE wall that I used to have up.
We added a little pop to our fireplace by using trim and paint… check that out here.
– Nursery –
Miss Nella’s room is one of my all time favorites!
Post coming soon.
It used to be an elephant themed nursery for when SJ was a little guy. It was so fun to turn it all pink!
– Master Bedroom –
The original design of our master bedroom was dark and dreary. I have lightened things up a bit since then.
It went from dark to light… see details for the white and bright here.
And then we got a new bed to go with the new bright white and it looks even brighter! LOL!
Post coming soon.
If you like the corner shelves above be sure to stop by my “How to Build a Corner Shelf” tutorial.
And if you want to take a walk through my closet to see how I stay so organized {and hear why I hide out in here when the kids are being crazies}!
– Master Bathroom –
The old master bathroom details are here. I am working on an updated source list.
– Boys Bedroom –
The latest big boy room is the sports themed bunk bed room.
The boys play musical beds so you never know which kid will be sleeping where. Haha! The other boys bedroom we have is set up to be a shared room as well.
Pop over to my Big Boy Room post to see the old transportation themed room.
Or check out this Alphabet Themed Toddler Bedroom.
That turned into this robot room.
Oh, and by the way…I love to decorate my house with my kids art. See how.
– Playroom –
You can visit my Playroom Decor post to see more playroom decorating ideas or check out my toy storage post!
– Basement –
The basement that my husband claims is “A Pinterest Cave” and he was hoping for a “Man Cave”. #oops
Update: I’ve converted the basement to a man cave playroom. Stay tuned…
As I mentioned, our home is a constant work-in-progress! I would just like to thank my husband for putting up with my 18 million ideas and more importantly, for footing the bill on those 18 million ideas.
And because I want you all to know that I truly am not superwoman and do not keep my house THIS clean {it’s all a front}… pop over to see my HOME TOUR SPOOF.
Trust me, you will instantly feel better about yourself.
You can find all of my projects HERE!
Thanks for stopping by…now next time give me some notice!

I absolutely love everything you have done with your home. You are a wonderful interior designer. I could only imagine what your yard looks like! I think my favorite room is your nursery. I would love to have a nursery for my son and decorate it. His theme is Pooh, Tigger, Piglet & Eeyore, but no nursery yet. Keep up the good work!
Mandy says
Thank you so much for the compliments!!

Rebecca says
What a great home! I thought mine looked good, but I wanna be like you when I grow up lol. Love the “IDEA” board. Makes the white board fit in so well with the rest of the house, instead of being just “there” like a lot white boards and bulletin boards.
Mandy says
Thank you so much for the compliments! Much appreciated!
Larissa says
I love this collage over your bed! I went and found everything the next day to do the same, but unfortunately the items were much bigger in person and it did not for above my bed, sooo I needed something on a large blank wall in my living room.. And it came out beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your talent in home decorating! I am sure I’ll keep referring back to your photos as I move from room to room! Your awesome!
Mandy says
Awesome!! You should email me a photo!! Mandy(at)houseofroseblog(dot)com

Can you tell me the tricks for your very straight lines in the nursery and any tricks to no bleeding?
Mandy says
I hired a painter to do the horizontal lines. But, you can google “how to paint horizontal lines” and find tons of great info!
Lily says
Looks great.
Had to laugh when I read “if you’re a mom of boys”- every time I hear a mom of young boys say that, they go on to describe something my girls do. Toddlers and preschoolers are naked, messy, screaming, mischievious young things, in general. I had one easy kid and one horrendously tough one, and they’re both girls. What’s interesting is those babycenter polls that split up the answers by gender, and virtually all of them are exactly the same answers regardless of gender. Just a thought. Again, beautiful home.
Sarah says
I love the color of your bedroom!! What brand of paint and color is that? I want to do that to my bedroom.

Mandy says

Cori says
Can you share the paint color of your fireplace room wall? I love it!
Mandy says
Valspar Hot Stone {Lowes}

Hi Mandy, you have beautiful ideas and great taste! I saw you replied to a lot of posts with purchasing items from “Hobby Lobby.” I live in NJ and we don’t have any of those stores…can you think of another comparison store that has similar prices? Thanks!
Mandy says
Thank you so much! Do you have a Michaels? Or Home Goods?
Lizzie says

Gorgeous-all of it! What a lovely home.
Huffalumps and Woozles says
I laughed so hard at the first picture. “Said the mom with naked kids.” My kid is always naked and I think it’s awesome. (His sister, by contrast, is always clothed, but she’s only 6 months. I’m sure when she’s 3, she, too, will be naked.) My husband says he remembers his dad having a conversation with him when he was around 7 about how he needed to start wearing clothes…ha!
Your house is gorgeous.
Mandy says
Haha! Glad it’s not just my kids!
Hannah says
hello! I was wondering, did you do stripes on all four walls in the nursery? thanks!
Mandy says
I only did stripes on 3 of the 4 walls. The fourth wall is a solid grey.

Hey, you have a very beautiful and inspiring home. I especially love the pillars at the breakfast bar. Was wondering what kind of floors you have in you kitchen and dining room?
Mandy says
The floors are a hand-scraped hickory. WE LOVE THEM! I would highly recommend going with some type of hand-scraped so that you don’t worry about it getting scratched up!
Kristin says
Wow! Love it all, but my favorite is your bedroom. Using that for inspiration for my bedroom makeover. You are so talented!
Mandy says
Thank you so much for the compliments!
Tracie says
I love your taste, but I epically like the openness of your living, kitchen, dinning rooms. Did you build? Do you have or know where/who did the plans?
Mandy says
We did build our home 2.5 years ago. I am not sure if I have a copy of the plans because it was a custom design. We hired a local architect who helped us draw up something.
Heather says
I am interested to see if you have a blue print that you can share. I am mostly interested in the kitchen/dining/living flow. I LOVE the flow and colors of your entire home! Thanks for letting us take a tour!
Mandy says
Thank you! I don’t have an electronic copy of my house plans. They were custom designed by our architect. Sorry!
Lavanya says
I love the golden vases in the kitchen and in the breakfast nook. Where did u get them. Overall well done.
Mandy says

Angela says
Love everything about your home-all! I especially love the pink necklace you have on in the first picture (I have an estate jewelry business and always notice all jewelry). Any ideas where I could find it??
Thanks!
Mandy says
Thank you so much! The necklace is from J Crew.
Heather says
Hi Mandy! Is your furniture in your bed room black or dark brown?
Heather says
is your furniture black or dark brown in your bedroom?
Mandy says
It’s suppose to be a dark dark brown, but it honestly looks black to me (in pictures and in person).
caitlyn says
Where do you get the shelves that are in the corner of your living room and bedroom?!
Mandy says
My dad actually made those…but he is working on writing up a “how-to” tutorial (that I will post here) because they were super simple!
GRICIANI says
I love your house!!!! It’s gorgeous ….!!! Especially your bedroom… Can I have the names of the paint you used for the dark wall and the for the rest of the room…
Mandy says
Thank you! The dark wall is Glidden Bittersweet Chocolate & the lighter walls and ceiling are Valspar Lambs Ear!
Heather says
I love what you did with your entertainment center! What is the dark paint color? Is it the same as the wall in your bed room?
Mandy says
Yes, it is the same Glidden Bittersweet Chocolate!
Heather says
Ok thanks! I love everything you did with your bedroom and 8 wasn’t sure how the dark
Chocolate walls would look with black furniture.
Sandy says
Hi Mandy-
Love your style…you recently posted about the boys’ bathroom artwork being from an etsy shop…would you post the link or name, please? I have a couple of bathrooms that need stuff on the walls in a bad way! I have a daughter who’s name is Parker, great taste in names too!
Brandi Bankhead says
Mandy – I love this! I still can’t get over the fireplace transformation! Stunning. And I have been looking for a new bedspread (love yours!) and I am totally going to Ikea! I don’t like the idea of spending hundreds of $$ on bedding when I have little kids. So $50 is perfect!
I love your house. It’s simply beautiful. You guys have been very blessed!
Mandy says
Thanks girl!! I agree…$50 on bedding is right up my alley! I change my mind too often to have it cost anymore. Ha! I was just at Ikea last week and they still had the same duvet!
Danielle says
Please, where did you get the grey and white Damask chair for your nursery?! I have a grey and violet themed nursery and this would be perfect!!
House looks beautiful!
Katie says
What did you do with all of your tv wires?
Mandy says
They are in the wall. Our bedroom is on the other side of that wall and our bedroom tv is basically on the other side…but in between the two walls we have a 3 ft by 3 ft area that has a door to it so that all the wires go inside. Does that make sense?
Tayler says
I am in LOVE with the nursery. The stripes are so perfect, I cannot wait to do a nursery like that one day. I also love the idea of the fireplace/TV makeover. Was it hard to do?
Mandy says
I didn’t do the labor…my dad did that part. It was a “simple” project for him (someone who knows how to work the saw). I wouldn’t say it would have been simple for me. Haha! Point is: If you know what you are doing then YES it is super easy.
Janica Richman says
You have the most beautiful home!!! I’m totally copying your master bedroom as we speak! I have already found the wall art and I’m ready to paint! Love your ideas, and so jealous of your georgious home. You have a beautiful family. Thanks for sharing!
Mandy says
Thank you so much! I love that you are doing your own version! You should email me a picture when you are done!! mandy(at)houseofroseblog(dot)com

Mandy says
Hi Kelly! Thanks for visiting! I got the mirror at Target!

Beautiful home! We have a boxer in our family too! I was wondering if you had any tips for drool marks and fur around the house? 🙂
Mandy says
Thank you! Our boxer is actually pretty small (only 50 lbs) and she usually doesn’t drool at all (we got lucky). For the shedding…I just constantly have my vacuum out! 🙂
shannon says
Hi! Love your decorating skills! Can you tell me where you purchased the pillar candle holders, the lamp and black frame that are on the cabinet in your living room? So cute! Thanks!
Mandy says
Thanks! The candle holders are from Hobby Lobby. Picture frame and lamp were from TJ Maxx.
